Colorado MINI Drive Version 2.0

DATE: Sunday September 29th.
TIME: 8 AM
PLACE: RTD Park-N-Ride at I-70 and Ward Road in ARVADA. The Park-N-Ride is on the North West side of this interchange.
-If you take I-70 WEST, just exit Ward Road and go STRAIGHT at the light. This will dump you off directly into the Park-N-Ride
-If you take I-70 EAST (say from C470), exit Ward Road and then turn Right at the bottom of the ramp. Make your first right after that. This is Ward Road. Go under the overpass, and then make your first LEFT into the RTD Park-N- Ride.

The drive will depart at 8:30 AM. There are no services at the Park-n-ride.

From the Park-N-Ride, I was thinking we could just head up to Golden and then on up to Evergreen and over to Idaho Springs with the chance to head up Mount Evans. NOTE: from the site it says that entry to Mt Evans is $10 for a 3 day pass.

After seeing mount evans, we could go Beau Joe's Pizza in Idaho Springs and have lunch.

Things to Bring:
- your MINI with a full tank of gas
- the previously mentioned $10.
- your camera
- Maybe a little cooler for the drive with drinks and snacks
- Motorola TalkAbout two way radio tuned to Channel 7, Sub Channel 21

I'm open to other suggestions for final routing, but let's just plan on meeting up at the parking lot, and motoring for a couple hours with some photo ops along the way.

Hmmm... ok, here's an attempt to drum up some additional interest in the drive:



Basic Route for the drive:
Start: I-70 and Ward Road. Head to Golden, then up through Golden Gate to Blackhawk over to Idaho Springs, on to the welcome center at Mt Evans, and then over Sqaw Pass to Evergreen and finally finishing in Morrison.

NOTE: The aspen are changing color. So this should be a good time to be in the mountains.

Wish I could come... but I'm in Ohio, and its midnight... and that's like 1800 miles. Does not compute! I should try and organize a local group... yeah, that's what I'll do! Ehe.

Glad that turned out as well as it did. Credit the MINI and all the MINI drivers for their attention and quick reactions.
