I am installing the same cage in my 06 Cooper S as well. The autopower cage was designed for earlier cars.. you need the front door panels from a 04 or earlier car. those had the arm rest that were straight. the later ones have a curve in them for a better armrest.. I swaped my 03 panels for the 06 panels and it worked fine.. I am cutting holes in the rear panels now for the rear braces. I will shoot some pictures of the exact location to cut. The first side I was a bit off but only an inch or so. Did you remove the airbags? I removed all the airbags. I will be racing in SCCA's SSC class.

For those rear panels and cutting holes / remounting them, it will of course depend upon the design of the rollbar / cage.

I've got one of the built by bones rollbars (onasled's old bar) in mine. Since it is bolt-in, and I had onasled's old interior panels with the holes already in them, it wasn't that hard to get the panels back on. With a weld-in cage, that would be a whole nother story.

We took the trim panels off, positioned the bar and mounting plates, mounted the plates, put the panels back on (with the hole in the right place), then bolted up the bar. The little "cubbies" in the hatch area are in just the right place to get to the rear mounting plate to bolt the bar to the plate.

Actually, we didn't quite do it the right way. :D We put the main hoop in before putting the interior panels back on, which was a mistake. A fair amount of bending of the panels was needed to get them into place around the main hoop.

Update:

Got my door panels on, by removing the cushioned arm rests ...Seems that the installers of my cage couldn't figure that out

I installed a rear seat delete kit as well ...looking a bit cooler

there is a fully race prepped car being built up over on the www.motoringunderground.com/forum site and has been posting pics whenever they complete a new step like stripping the sound deadening etc.

Here's one of the threads with pics: http://www.motoringunderground.com/f...ead.php?t=1394

Another member just got sponsored by BMS and is gonna be sending her cooper in for the full race treatment from them too....I'm sure pics will follow

Cage looks good, looks just like mine is it from Autopower?
Your harnesses however should be attached to the horizontal bar on the cage behind the seats, not where you have them now.
See you on the 8th at NPR.
Good luck,
Steve

These harnesses are connected to the right location,
for a street car, autocross or HPDE events.

For SCCA, NASA or other sanctionned racing organisations, that particular harness, the Schroth Quick Fit, is not LEGAL,
The competition harness has to be 3' and will have to be attached to the crossbar on the rollcage.
