Brian,
Got real serious about shocks and connected with one of the top shock guys here in the Northeast. He supplies all types, Koni, JRZ, Moton, Penski, Olin and others. He explained that JRZ and Moton are identical, coming from the same family, and that even the parts are interchangeable. He's set up other Minis, including Nuzo, so he has some knowledge of the mini's setup.

Should have them on in a few days.

I figure if you charged yourself for your time and labor,.... and the labor of the volunteers...... with labor, you probably have over $250K invested in this "work of art" Mini USA should be helping you out......

Am I looking at your pics wrong. Petcock looks like it's at the top of your rad???????
I'm with Bob. MINI USA should get off their butt and take a good look at your car.

Maybe you should contact Fireballed Tim to get you hooked up.

Great job as always Greg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yea, your right about petcock Larry. The rad is mounted upside down due to brackets and better mounting. Petcock is out and plug in it's place.

If anyone has a name to talk with at Mini USA, mainly someone here in the northeast then please pass it along to me.
Anyone know if Mini is hosting the vintage at LRP this year?

I'm almost sure BMW is hosting the Vintage race at LRP. I think they own the rights up there. My guy at Towne is really tight with the number 1 or 2 guy in NJ. He also has a hook up with J. McDowell the head guy at MINI. I'll see what I can do, but no promises. Alain is also very well connected with MINI. Contact him in private. QT. I'll let you know. Send me a regular email. I may need info, pics, etc.

I'm in your corner.

It's a bit too late now, but Jim McDowell and some other MINI USA folks were up at MINIs on Top in New Hampshire last weekend.

That motor mount looks sweet Greg!

On the Motons - we had some issues with mounting and running, mostly with droplink geometry - be happy to share if you'd like.

Looks nice!

Man, this thing is a work of art - I'd almost have to cover my eyes watching it race!
Gorgeous work. Just gorgeous.

Thanks for the nice comments all.
I have to say that this is probably one of my favorite projects to date. Your never too old.... It's been a dream to do this since I was about 12. I'm now 51 and I'm finally doing it.

Head, cam, flywheel (7.5 lbs), and other goodies are on and about ready to go. The real race motor is yet to be built, so we'll go with this now ...

Apparently you were pondering green at one time though...

Header wrap? I thought you had advised against this before... or maybe I'm thinking of someone else... You appear to be very close!

Your right Tony. I painted that spare cover green a couple of years ago, before I even considered this build. Was just kinda a test to see if it was doable.

Yes, I did advise against wrap but my experiences were with steel and not stainless. It seems to be OK with stainless, so I have been told.

Do what you can to fight the heat. Parts get replaced if need be anyways...

I just saw some earlier posts that I never saw before; I guess from when I was on travel... 51?! Not sure why, but I somehow thought you were about 40 or so... You are following your dreams Greg, and I hope you continue to do so, always. You are an inpsiration.

Oh Geeesss .... I'm startin to feel old now ...

Well, things were slow this last couple of weeks due to the fact that someone gotta hold of my debit card # and emptied my checking account. Someone out in the Lancaster, CA. area did a lot of local shopping That plus about $300 in overdraft fees and I was out a few K. Thank god the bank took care of everything and I finally can get going and spend money once again ..

Will update a bit later. Just made an oil filter relocation plate for the block to eliminate the factory filter/cooler unit. Hope it works OK.
