I'm happy to see this new section here on NAM.
I'd like to start it off by asking fellow "track" racers to chime in and say hello. Let us know what club and what class you race a Mini in.
This could be a valuable section, at least for me. I'm just now stripping out my S for BMWCCA modified class. Hmmmm, lots'a wires that need to be eliminated. Could really use some guidance from others that have dealt with these mods. I'll start a tread on this

Glad to see you've finally made up your mind. Rich has some very good info for you. He's sent me some great pics of other cars that run in Nasa. I would believe if you contacted NASA and BMW CCA you'll get tons of info and members who race the MINI. Hope your new venture is a great success and everyone joins in. Good Luck as always. Remember to keep all 4 down.

Hey Rich, I know in-car cameras are cool, but putting a cameraman out your sunroof is a bit much, don't ya think?
Hey Larry, yep, been talking a bit with Rich and others. There are some here that have not come out and discussed much on NAM that are really into this. Some real nice cars out there that I hope, like Rich, will at least give us a tease by posting some pics of their Minis.

NASA in Northern California.
Laguna Seca, Sears Point, Thunderhill...
Just doing HPDE for now.
Anyone going up to Thunderhill this weekend for the 25 enduro?
Nice, a cameraman on the MINI, Rich. Kind of like a wing walker.

Rpterson, I've Been Looking For "miniusa.com" Decals Like I See Above Your Drivers Window. Where Did You Get Them? Or Were They Custom Made For You?

What's with all the Black MINI's.
onasled: the video is of qualifing at the San Jose Grand Prix. A concrete canyon with no way out. I was playing around and found out how to post video's a couple of days ago, but I posted the wrong one without titles.
MINICHEF: I had the MINIUSA.COM made at a local sign shop. I think I paid $10 each, one up front and above both doors.

Nice looking car. Great color. Can you give us some info about the car and what your class in Canada is all about. Where in Ontario do you run Mosport? I live near Niagara Falls and wouldn't mind seeing one of your races up there.

newbs49, Thank you. The car has only been at Mosport and Tremblant so far. Lots of info coming on the car but it may take a little while. Will share with the community in due course. Working on a couple of projects first.

Having exchanged plenty of emails and PMs with a few of you here, this forum has been a long-time coming!
JP has done some serious work to his MCS, and I look forward to the official release regarding his Team, and more details on his mods...
Rich, I live in SJ, and missed the Grand Prix due to other commitments... I heard that you guys had to go-over some wicked train tracks that just beat the heck out of the cars. I didn't see it in the vid though...
Greg, with this forum now in existence, this would be a good place to get and share A/C removal ideas

Great to see this discussion group. I raced SCCA National for 10 years in a Formula Vee until 1999 and was inactive until I bought my "03 MCS. I get to about 3 track days a year and am planning to do somw more as the car develops. I would like to share more views on track prep for our cars & hooking up with other trackies at events in the Northeast for some fun. Maybe even arrange some Mini only events. I'll keep looking in. Another HPDE-er here. So far, I've only been to New Hampshire International Speedway and Saint Lawrence Motorsports Park (a shifter kart track that we get to use our full-size cars on twice a year).
I'm planning on getting to Lime Rock and Tremblant, and perhaps Shannonville in Ontario. I live in northern Vermont, so some of the Canadian tracks are fairly close to me.
I'm one of the few taking their Cooper (not Cooper S) to the track, at least around here.

Thanks for posting the JCW chase video. That was my car in the Video. I have to get a copy of that to put in my sig. That was the first time for me at that track. I know you and Greg go there a lot. Nice track but like the classroom instructor said it's the best gokart track in the east. Found the track to be alot of fun. My home track is Watkins Glen in NY. Nice to have that track 2hours away. My local BMW club has 3 events there each year and we are trying to get the local MINI crowd to start coming to our events. We will be trying to get the local Southern Ontario Mini club to join us. Stu Sacs one of the club racers and instuctors is heading up the effort. He also has a MINI that you may have seen in the BMW Roundel mag where he ran in the One Lap of America races.
I'll try to keep everyone informed on our events. Maybe we can get 15-20 MINI's to one of our club events. Hope we can get this forum going strong so we can all share how to get our cars setup from the guys who really have the race cars.

I'll tell Stu you said hello. We talked about your car at a benefit at Towne MINI for the Sales Mgr who got blasted on his Harley while driving home from work. Stu is thinking of doing some major work to his car. Maybe we can get things going for a MINI event some place in the Northeast. Driving school, club race deal. Get your connections going Greg. You started this monster.

That video was from my fifth day at NHIS, and I had run the oval turn before, so that helped a lot. I had also been there the week before, so things were fresh in my head. I think the only place I really made up ground on your car was in the oval turn.
I'm looking forward to getting to some new tracks, but I'm a little concerned that as the tracks get bigger / faster, I'll start falling further and further behind. But, as long as I'm having fun, that's all that matters.
