Hello
Hello everyone....the bug has got me....got me good. Here i am at the top of the keyhole at Mid-Ohio:

This was a BMWCCA event, but i am looking at doing more with other clubs next year. One Lap, the new MINI Challange has crossed my mind more than once, and i also thought that trying out all the good track on the east coast this year would also be a good time. from just two track schools i feel i have a lot of info under my belt to help out people starting out.
i would also like to thanks newbs49 for pointing me to this thread. i loved hearing the stories he told me of all the track time with onasled while doing some mods to his car. it got me into this along with a small nug from Minzilla and Motorn. i have also worked on Red Fury's car and hope to be helping him at the least with track prep/advice for the MINI Challange and maybe adding a few roll bars to some cars this spring.....one being mine.
i also have some good track video that i would like to post up, but i am learning how to post them to my web page. any pointers welcomed.

I'm planning on getting to Lime Rock and Tremblant, and perhaps Shannonville in Ontario. I live in northern Vermont, so some of the Canadian tracks are fairly close to me.
I'm one of the few taking their Cooper (not Cooper S) to the track, at least around here.

Hi guys,
I'm in Montreal & lap all summer at the surrounding area tracks. I organize the lapping nights with the Southern Ontario MINI Club. 6 of us commit to the track and then we open it up to fellow members to cut down on the cost. I've been tracking for a few years now (bug started in the BMW e30 M3 I had). I'm on my second MCS (this one has LSD
).
4 of us MINI owners have been discussing what to do for next year. With the increasing amount of track events we are doing it's really time to think about safety & costs. As much fun as it is to track a MINI, it is really time for a dedicated track car. I'm thinking of jumping to the BMW camp and looking for a used BMW for the track. My father has a '95 M3 that he has had since new that I'll get for next to nothing. I'm going to throw in a cage/seats/harness. However, I think about what makes lapping events so fun? For me it's the fact that I'm always viewed as an underdog in the little MINI, especially when I'm out with the BMW club. The feeling you get when you're smack on the butt of BMW Club Race Car is priceless. My heart want to continue to run the MINI, my mind says not without proper safety equipment, and my wallet says I can't afford it
In a few years time our beloved MCSs will be cheaper (read $10k or less), easier to pick up as a track car. When it happens i'll be first inline.
Nice to see a lot of you are from the NW, I think it would be nice to meet up for a lappping day or HPDE. I'm signed up for a full lapping day at Shannonville on Thurs May 4th, CN$150 for the entire day. Majority of the members are from the BMW Toronto Club. I've run with them before and they are not a bunch of yahoos.
cheers
Amit
Me at Mecaglisse 9/24/05, it was pouring and no one could keep up

They are Ireland Enginerring's Street/Track camber plates. I have them set at 2.25. With this set-up the car rides nice on the street and the track. Also the price was really nice, i can get two sets of them for what most other sets cost and it does not raise the car at all. I paired then up with a set of Knoi Yellows. All my instructors really liked the way the car handles and feels on the track. while we are on the parts of a car here is my list:
My car specs:
EB/B, Lapis Blue Leather, H/K Stereo, DSC, MFSW (it is 2620 lbs. at track time)
Schroth Harness
Alta C.A.I.
Unichip
Alta 15% Pulley
Alta 2% Light Weight Crank Pulley
Nology Plug Wires
Denso IK22 Plugs
Pilo Coil Pack
Milltek Header
Milltek Catback
M7 Oil Catch Can
Detroit Tuned Bypass Valve
BMP Strut Bar
Ireland Street/Track Front Camber Plates
Koni Yellow Adjustable shocks
H-Sport Springs
H-Sport Front and Rear Comp. Sway Bars
H-Sport Rear Camber Links
Detroit Tuned Big Brake Kit (front)
Stainless Steel Lines (rear)
Hawk Pads (rear)
ATE Super Blue Brake Fluid
Ro_Jo Wheels
Yokohama Parada Spec-2 Tires
In the works:
Helix short shifter
Whalen Shift ****
Alta 4 Light bar in lower grill
Alta Intercooler
A Head
Schrick Cam
Quafie LSD
Roll Bar
Stage 2 Clutch
R Compounds
And Hello onasled, nice to meet you. hope to in the person this summer.

Hey Amit,
They let you track with your sunroof open ....
I was black flagged for that once. We also have to have our window open all the way no matter the weather..
I also went through those same arguments in my head when I decided it was time to get into BMWCCA racing. I almost traded my Mini for a very well prepared E-36 M3 with a winning record. Weeks of "what to do's" and I just said, hell with it, taking the challenge with the Mini.
I'm somewhat fortunate that I have a good friend and close neighbor that builds Trans Am cars. He's excited to get started with fabrication of the roll cage and other stuff, though he tells me that I should just sell the Mini and get a GT-1 car ..
Go with the Mini Amit!

That was at a lapping event so they weren't strict about it. I had to turn on the AC a few times to clear up the fog
The passenger in the car was a first timer, she had never been on track before, should have seen her face!
Tell me about it. I almost bought a e30 M3 this week for dedicated lapping! Had a nicely done DTM cage, fresh motor, etc, but was not too expensive. I want to run the MINI, but I need to wait a couple of years to buy a used one and build it up. Have to settle for being the big Bavarian Bully in the e36 M3 for the next couple of seasons. Really looking forward to following your experiences next year.

Plenty of times
I live just 1 hour away.
Have lots of "in-car" video of my MINI at Laguna.
I'll try to post it here soon
You'll love Laguna. The MINI is made for that track.
Wish I could be there with all the other MINI's next week.

I did use it at BeaveRun before, full speed 110mph+, no problems
Thought i'd share an old video. I haven't had a chance to upload any from this summer. This video is from my second time at Shannonville in my old '02 MCS. I was still running street tires at the time. Tires are howling like crazy! I'm chasing a couple of MCSs running on 225/50/15 R Compounds. These two guys, now my close friends, have tons of racing experience (Speedvision Cup, Formula Ford) so you can see I'm struggling to keep up. I held my own until the last lap when I nail the track-out cone on turn 1 going in too hot
enjoy, i drive much better now, I owe a lot to them though.

This could be a valuable section, at least for me. I'm just now stripping out my S for BMWCCA modified class. Hmmmm, lots'a wires that need to be eliminated. Could really use some guidance from others that have dealt with these mods. I'll start a tread on this
