NASA time trial class for a "Stock" 2005 MCs with the base works package?
NASA time trial class for a "Stock" 2005 MCs with the base works package?
I should be taking delivery of my new "daily driver" mid next week and was curious about what class it would fall in for the NASA time trial competition?
I haven't touched the car so I'm not 100% sure but it is supposed to be a completely stock 2005 MCS with the works package. The Nasa TT rules list a 2006 and up JCW package, but not the dealer installed stuff.
Any help would be appreciated

So the issue you have is you need to take points for the JCW package. Which is a Problem...
Injectors +2
Cat back +2
Cylinder head +6
Pulley +4
LSD +3
JCW springs +2
JCW shocks +3
Hope you didn't get the brakes package or extra wings or anything
The car starts in TTE ** (which means +14)
Then the car receives a +5 for being an FI car
So your at 41 points and already in TTC before you touch the car.
Best Bet you can do. Here is what I'd do....
Put all the free points mods on the car... Camber plates, Tune, Ditch passanger seat. Go get the car Tuned, Dyno'd , and weighed and send a letter to Greg Greenbaum asking to have the car classed based on a dynosheet and a weight. You still take points for the LSD, springs and shocks and tires but all the engine garble will be gone. Put some real suspension under it and a big rear bar and a real LSD (not a quaife or the factory stuff) and see if he puts you in TTD.
Your letter back from greenbaum will look something like this...
"Your '03 Mini Cooper S with a maximum 330 fwhp on a Dynojet, and a minimum competition weight with driver of 2650 lbs, will have a new TT/PT base class of TTA**/PTA**(fourteen points). Your new base tire size is 295mm. You will not need to assess modification points for power mods or weight reduction. However, all other modifications, including transmission and LSD, that are not standard items on a base trim '03 Mini Cooper S must be assessed points. You must be compliant with the above listed maximum Dynojet hp and minimum competition weight during any tech inspection.
Please keep a copy of this e-mail and most recent Dynojet sheets with the vehicle log book as proof of re-classing. Also, turn in a copy of both the e-mail and dyno sheets with your PT/TT Car Classification Form to your regional PT/TT Director. Note that with the 2009 rule changes, the car will still need to be compliant with the minimum adjusted wt/hp ratio for whichever competition class you choose to run in. "
Feel free to ask me anything you need to know. I was the TTC national Champion last year in my 03 MCS. We have a VERY VERY robust TT program here in the southeast with some top drivers, big fields, and close competition. Winning is taken very seriously down here.
Don't try to trick the Dyno... they'll be doing GPS testing this year.
