Redline Time Attack round 3 (2nd west coast round) at Las Vegas motor speedway outside road course made for a great weekend for the ABF team. I was able to clinch my second 1st place finish of the year in street tire fwd class with a lap time of 1:53.934 in the 09 R56 JCW, and Dez Ballard was able to get 2nd in super modified(formally unlimited) class fwd with a lap time of 1:49.517 in the turbo R53. Next round is a month away at AAA speedway in Fontana CA(aka California speedway) try to come out and support your fellow Mini drivers

^yup exactly. Now its turning, braking, AND accelerating on ROAD COURSES :D
whats, funny, only thing visually different really from its drag trim is the wheels, to me it doesnt look like it was ever a drag car, looks very fitting as a road course time attack Mini

Congrats on another great outing. If its not asking too much what configuration is the R-53 running these days and what kind of power is it putting down, ball park of course ? Is it still turbo only ?

yes its running the same turbo configuration it did in drag trim, just a smaller turbo for more response, at vegas round the power was about 400whpOriginally Posted by maxmini

I love that......it's down to 400whp.....yeah at 400whp, even with the smaller turbo on it currently, still is at moderate boost levels and tune, still alot more power to be had, but we're continuing to dial in chassis tuning for maximum cornering ability before throwing more power at the car

400 thru the front wheels only is a lot to hang on to . I remember seeing Bob Sheers Buttonwillow footage and he was in the mid 300 range. That car did like to dance thru the corners as he would try to pedal it thru without having the tires spin free. Dez better get a good nights sleep before every event LOL

Yea, me and Steve were talking last night, when the Countryman comes out someone needs to gut one and see if the AWD could be mated to a R53..........
