REME Dinner 6-11-05, Petaluma

Michael & Patricia Babischkin from Centreville, VA (Washington DC area) have been REME members since 2-06-05 in anticipation of relocating to the Petaluma area sometime in October of this year. Michael ranks as one of our more distant members being beat only by Markus Moeck in Germany.

Michael is the President of DC Metro MINIs (http://www.dcmetrominis.org/) and Patricia is an active member of DC Metro MINIs.

The Babischkins will be in this area on June 9th thru the 13th to prepare for their relocation. In the spirit of most MINI owners in most MINI clubs, lets meet them for an early dinner in Petaluma at 5:30 pm, so that those interested members living outside of the North Bay Area can join us and turn the trip into a relaxing drive.

The following details are subject to change so check in occassionally:

Date: Saturday, June 11, 2005
Time: Meet outside at 5:30pm
Dinner 6pm until 9pm
Place: Finbar Devine's Irish Pub
145 Kentucky Street
Petaluma, CA
(707) 762-9800

Great gesture. Very MINI. I hope to make it (but have a "retreat" that day). It would be fun to drive the backroads of Petaluma again, but this time in my MINI.

It's been a few years since I was last in Petaluma, but this wouldn't happen to be where McNear's used to be would it? I'm not sure if I'm allowed back in McNear's... haven't been in there since my 21st b-day (a long long time ago!)

I believe McNear's is on Petaluma Blvd by the old movie theatre while Finbar's is on Kentucky Street, across from Copperfield's Bookstore.

I am still trying to relocate to Petaluma myself, guys. I hope everybody has fun. I'll be up there soon (I hope!)

We did not have quite the turnout expected, but there was 9-10 of us that met for a good dinner in a colorful Irish Tavern.

We all found the Babischkins charming and look forward to their future residency in this area. They both have enormous experience in the "National" MINI community and will be a real plus to the northern California MINI clubs.

Rawls our club photographer took pictures and the will be available for viewing at http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/petamini_pix/my_photos sometime in the near future. Additional photos may be available at the albums link off http://www.redwoodempiremini.com/mbb...egory-view.asp.

A BIG Thank You!!!

All of the Babischkins have made it home safe and sound. We had a blast Saturday night and now can't wait to move out there to go on runs with you guys.

It was so nice to meet and chat with you. Zied, I haven't forgotten there will be an e-mail with tons of information for you in your box sometime tomorrow.

Oh, and when we got up for coffee the next morning, we picked up the copy of the New York Times --- to find a photo of one of our new friends. Now, at dinner, she mentioned "I'm embarassed already." Well, you have nothing to be embarassed about -- the two women in the first part of the article should be embarassed --- buying mercedes on the same day indeed --- all the truly cool women drive a MINI.

Hugs,
PB

That's right!!

Sorry I couldn't make it to the dinner. A little emergency came up very last miniute. Seriously like 4:30 we were about to head out the door. We look forward to meeting you when you make the move or when you are next in town. Sorry again, I didn't even have a chance to call and let you know we couldn't make it. I feel bad.
