Gauges that match

I've been looking around for a boost and a temperature gauge for my JCW when it get's here. The ones from Mini do not appear to offer those choices, all I can find outside seem to be Craven Speed which look nice, but they're white faced, and the JCW Paceman has black faced gauges inside. I'd love to find some that match.

Any thoughts?

Any that don't have the aluminum surround I don't think the paceman has that I think they are a dark coloured surround

We also have a JCW coming and I ordered the JCW gauges. They do have a temp gauge(assuming you are talking about coolant temp?), so obviously that was one of my two choices. No boost gauge though. My 2nd gauge is the relative torque....that one is just for fun so we can see the overboost shoot the percentage past 100%

What is relative torque? I got the lateral G gauge as my 2nd, but it is too just for fun. I don't know why mini doesn't offer some other useful gauges.

ha, you got me....the gauge reads as a percentage, up to 100%, then it has a blue area just past 100% which is the overboost(I think it's 115% of the rated torque of the motor?).

I assume it is reading the amount of torque being applied at the crank based on the throttle position and probably a few other metrics....just guessing here.

Mostly it's just a fun gauge that I will be able to watch peg past 100% in virtually every gear when I want it to

It takes so little......

Regarding gauges. it's a mystery to me as well. Mini Cooper has always been advertised as a driver's car....well, real drivers need to know what their oil pressure and oil temp are doing(or not doing)

I have 9 gauges in my Tundra pickup......9....in a truck...including coolant and oil temp/pressure....that's a head scratcher.

It's kind of amazing how many sports cars/sporty cars are either sorely lacking in critical gauges or come with gauges that are totally worthless. My Hyundai Genesis Coupe comes with a center-mounted pair of digital gauge in the dash that display instant torque and instant fuel economy. Other than being entertained by the pretty lights, I'm not sure what anyone would use that information for... particularly in a sports car. Why not oil temp and oil pressure?

Even worse on MINI's account is the fact that oil pressure and temp can't be read through the CANBUS, so they basically make it as difficult as possible to get to that critical information.

Oil temp is readable. Oil pressure is not.

In 2013 people worry about the gauge being perfectly in the middle and then never moving... Cost, added distraction, lack of people asking for them.. That's why.

Plus, MINIs run very hot compared to some other cars (210-220 degrees), which accounts for a lack of a temp gauge. Some people would have a heart attack if they saw that. I love my ScanGauge II and the wxtra info it gives me.

I don't buy that explanation, since they don't have to put any values on it. The 1st gen MINIs had a temp gauge and it didn't have any values on it.

Then don't buy it, but that idea has been expressed multiple times.

Exactly. Most temp gauges don't. Just calibrate it so "normal" is the middle, and the red zone is "something is wrong."

Emphasis added. I know that's why, I just wish it were otherwise.
