R60/R61 Stock Problems/IssuesDiscussions related to warranty related issues and repairs, or other problems with the OEM parts and software for R60 AND R61 MINI Cooper and Cooper S MINIs.
I'm hoping to get help with yet another electrical gremlin on my daughters 2014 R60 Base. I can hardly go between oil changes on this vehicle without some sort of issue with electrical or something it seems. She shows up, and hasn't said anything about any lights on because I think she is scared of the vehicle along with myself by now having some issue to try and figure out lol. Anyway, I go to start the vehicle and drive the car up my ramps to change oil and see there are multiple lights on which appear to have to do with the passenger side air bag? She told me these have come on and off intermittently for weeks while driving, sitting, etc.
I used my basic code reader and there are no codes. These are the warning lights that seem to come and go (attached). I was just sitting in the vehicle after oil change with it running and these lights would come on/off several times (over a 5 minute period) for no reason I can understand. All three of these lights would be on and then all go off for a bit and then come back on. Perhaps some sensor is bad in the passenger seat? Not sure what to really do. I came across this talking about a recall for 2014 to 2015 models for the CIS seat mat. Anyone out there a part of this recall? Mine is a 2014 and had the dealer check my VIN and they said "NO RECALLS" for it, but I'm suspecting this is the problem and BMW knows about it.
Can some one please help me determine the right part number for the passenger side seat foam to fix and replace this CIS problem? There seem to be about 20 different part numbers on REALOEM.com.
My VIN is: WMWZB3C59EWR41782
It believe it is Carbon Black imitation leather
I don't believe there is any seat heater
Item #01 from RealOEM.com:
Did you call the dealer about the seat sensor? My 2008 was fixed under recall... twice. My 2009 had a seat position sensor go out. So the indicator could be almost anything in the system. Did you have the BMW codes or are you still using the basic OBD reader? You are better off getting a real scanner to see what is wrong than to start replacing parts. Just a recommendation.
Thanks for the reply, I was wondering where everyone went that might be able to help fix this machine... Seems like I have some of the most difficult issues (several in the last year since I bought this thing)...
Yes, I even visited the dealer in person and since there is no recall for my VIN they won't/don't do anything but want to charge me to scan (which I all ready have done) and then quote/fix. Been there done that too many times all ready with this machine.
I filed a complaint with the NHTSA! My ODI# is: 11328513 So will see what happens there, probably nothing :-(.
Anyway, I had bought the Scwaben tool recently and confirmed the codes:
93C3
9434
9435
Am I the only one that has a passenger airbag light/sensor issue on an R60???
Anyone have any information or insight as to the part number (seat bottom cushion with sensor) to "properly" fix the issue? I've called several mini dealers and they don't seem to help much and provide conflicting data on the seat bottom part. One even told me my VIN has heated seats on the driver, but not passenger? To me knowledge there is no switch or buttons to seat heating anywhere in this base model...
