Self cancel turn signals
Self cancel turn signals
I have a 2012 Countryman S no nav no auto ac, just basic with hk stereo and I'm not sure if it's just me but the turn signal doesn't auto cancel after a turn. Looking through the computer I found values that state it should cancel after a 30* turn in the direction indicated and a 25* turn back. This doesn't work. Is there something I don't know?
Computer values:
LENKWINKEL_UEBERSCHREITEN
wert_01
LENKWINKEL_UNTERSCHREITEN

Can you read any codes? Can you run INPA and check the steering angle? If a wheel speed sensor is faulty or 'out' then indicator will not reset as this confuses the steering angle detection. You usually get 'trificta' warning lights if the actual angle sensor is faulty or way out, so DSC and ABS/brake lights on. Reseting angle sensor or new wheel sensor is my bet, but you need codes and know where your angle is sitting currently.
Haven't been able to get inpa to get past a script error in the R56 chassis selection so currently, no I cannot read codes or the steering angle sensor. Waiting on my BT reader to hopefully utilize Carly or something similar.
Thanks for the advice though. My thoughts were similar but I wasn't sure that self canceling was even a thing on this car since this platform is new to me and it was like that when I bought it.

Finally got around to getting inpa and Carly to read codes. There are no codes related to the steering angle sensor. No dsc lights or steering errors on the dash.
I used inpa to attempt to recalibrate the sensor, but get an error (argument receive instead of ok) when doing so. It reads the angle and seems to be functioning.
Any other ideas as to what could cause the auto cancel to not work?

Could it be something as simple as the switch or relay itself is bad?
I don’t know, it’s just a thought. I have seen plenty of older vehicles that the turn signals fail to cancel after a turn. I do not know how much more advanced or engineered they are now, I’ve never had a reason to look. But Maybe it’s simply that the physical lever and switch need replacing, or there may be a bad contact or something? Just a thought..... like I said, I honestly have no idea how that all is assembled or anything on these, I am absolutely just throwing this out there from a point of ignorance!
