Got locked in my car tonight. Went to store and parked hit door unlock button on door, nothing happened. Tried the key fob, nothing on locks, but turned lights on and off. Tried pulling the door handle twice, lock comes up then falls back down. Door won't unlock or open. Windows down I tried manual key on outside door lock, turns but no unlock. Fob did pop back hatch . I can hear something something clicking when operating fob. Back doors were unlocked, so got my 6'5" 300 lbs into the back seat and out that door. Called mini 800 number but they close at 6 pm eastern. Any ideas? Car will start and drives just can't open front doors. Also tried switch on console no luck.

Getting locked in a car used to be a joke. Will be interested to hear what MINI has to say.

 

Finally got passenger door unlocked. Blown 15 amp fuse. Drivers door would still not unlock. Started to try and take door panel apart. Removed switch panel from door, and 2 screws holding panel to door. Tries the door lock button and heard the acutator cyle. Door then opened. After that door lock button worked, key worked from outside. Its late , will remove door panel this weekend and see what the acuator looks like.

Spoke with a Mini USA rep today at their 800 number. Took down my info and suggested I take it to local mini dealer. Then called and filed a report with the NHTSA and got a case number.

Will take the car next week to the closest dealer, about 3 hours away. Will update .
