2014 CM ALL4 S Transfer Case Bearing Failure

Last week my 2014 CM started making a slight intermittent grinding noise, especially when accelerating, and then blew a seal and leaked all of its fluid from the rear of the transfer case. Towed it to the dealer who diagnosed the transfer case bearing had failed, taking out the rear differential and a plethora of other expensive parts along the wayand was quoted ~$9k to fix it. New TC, differentials, etc. They are asking Mini to cover it, as it is at ~62k miles, so not long out of warranty. I bought the car back in December, and the only repair record that it had was I believe for a leaking rear seal that was replaced in early 2017 (I have the records in the car, which I don't have access to at the moment). I'm hopeful that Mini will cover the repair, but if not, I'm going to confirm the repair that was done last year, and see if it is possibly related to the current issue.

I've heard of several 11's and 12's have TC issues, but has anyone with a newer model had a failed TC? Seems odd to me that it would have failed at only 62k miles.
