I couldn't find a thread on this so figured I'd check with my fellow MINIacs -

I just purchased a new 2013 MCS to replace Cary that was totaled in December... I quickly discovered an odd change to the information shown in the tachometer square digital display I have no control over. In 2009 the digital display had temperature and time shown with the other optional information available to select in the rectangular display below (trip, ave sp, mpg ave...etc).... I liked it a lot. For some goofball reason the 2013 model only has the speed shown in the digital display... It's driving me batty being both redundant and actually somewhat distracting now - every time I look at rpm I can't help but see the speed which detracts from using the center dial (which is kind of the whole point). How can I reprogram the digital display to go back to showing just temp and time? I understand there's aftermarket software that reprograms the ECU to do just that. So....

1- has anyone done this on their 2013?
2- what did you use and did it work? Did it cause any problems? Other considerations I need to be aware of?
3- MOST IMPORTANTLY: who can do it?

this is something you can change via coding your car. look up the coding thread in the electrical section
