About rear wiper in Reverse?

We've been getting rain/snow here the last few days. I swear I read somewhere that if you have rain sensing on, it's raining, and you put the car in reverse, the rear wiper automagically clears your view.

Mine doesn't. Is it supposed to? I'm wondering if I ask to get it looked at, or just let it be since everything else seemingly works and I'd prefer to not screw up what works if something is done to it. Thoughts?

I know with non-rain sensing wipers on my 2008 MC... if the rear wiper is on (intermittent wipe), when you shift into reverse it will go to fast wipe. Not sure why MINI didn't include intermittent and fast wipe of rear window when driving forwards.

Don't have my new car yet to try out the auto-rain sense

I believe rain-sensing only applies to the front windshield. In my 2008 Cooper S Clubmban, the rear wipers did continually wipe when the car was in reverse, but ONLY if the rear wiper was already activated.

I suspect the programming in the Countryman would be the same. We're getting light snow today so I'll get to try it later and report back...

Thanks bentyyc. I think you're right and I confused what I read. My CM does in fact start wiping the rear wiper constantly when placed in reverse when I have manually placed the switch in intermittent. Thanks for the help!!

Did I mention your car looks bad a$$!!! Love it every time I see it!

Anyone else notice that if you already have the rear wipers active, and you turn off your car and remove the key, next time you turn the car back on, the wipers don't come on? I have to turn it off and turn it on again before the rear wipers comes on again.

Yes that is by design and documented in the manual.

My guess is to prevent the rear wiper motor from burning out if it happens to be frozen to the glass when you start the engine.
