misfire P0301, P0302, DME(ecu) related
hi all, bought a 2013 countryman used last year with 67000km and only driven in winter time other wise will be parked outside of the house with a car cover on.
last month when i was driving it, at around 40 km/h car when to limp mode, loss power, both engine light on. turn it off and restart, and everything the same. manage to drove home, use code reader to read code, is a simple P0301. Cylinder 1 misfire. Ordered 4 new ignition coil along with 4 new spark plug. Waited couple days for the item arrive, installed new coil, exact same problem, but with more misfire code, P0300, P0301, P0302. installed new spark plug, everything the same, with one more code B0200A. Checked other sensor everything seems normal, only thing notice is cylinder 1, ignition coil 1 has no spark..... Did some search on the forum, thought it would be HPFP, ordered HPFP and install, everything still the same. Then checked voltage and no 5v coming from the coil plug on ignition 1. Asked around, and do more search on the forum, turns out it is the DME. So lucky to find a member on "BMW True North" facebook page. He can clone old DME info to another one. and got very lucky to source a used DME on ebay too. Hardest part is to get the CAS out to clone the DME from my 2013 countryman s All 4, basically need to remove the whole dash out.
Over all it took me a month to get it all work again, my advice, spend more time diagnosis before buying parts (stupid enough i have couple others BMW and both need to replace ignition coil and spark plug or HPFP then problem fix, never thought will be DME)
if anyone need info for the guy that clone the DME please PM me, super friendly easy guy to deal with, and took him only couple hours to get the job done and ship it back to me, highly recommend
