When I bought my 15 JCW Countryman, I had assumed at the time it was completely loaded. When I got home and went to program the garage door, I found out that I was missing Homelink on my auto-dimming mirror. This is totally a small thing to worry about but it's bugging me. I tried to get some pricing and advice from the local service/parts department on replacing the mirror with the homelink version, but they were not interested in finding out the necessary information for me. Since the mirror is already auto-dimming, the wiring should be in place, so is this an easy thing to change out? Is there any other programming needed since the mirror also holds the door key receiver?
Before getting the mirror, you might make sure that your garage door opener is compatible - for the life of me, I cannot get the home link to work in my Countryman not my e46 3 series - and that's with the repeater that was supposed to solve the issues
Interesting. Is that running on system power or is it using its own battery? Do you have a write-up on how you installed it?
It's just 2 wires. Red is power and black is ground. I got the power from the map light and the ground I taped a hole and grounded in the car metal. Just make sure you get. Rolling code homelink.
