Red Line is a popular choice within the MINI community. They have a great application guide HERE, which lists 75W90 GL-5 Gear Oil and we have that HERE.
Yea thanks, i ended up getting the oil but now i cant figure out how the heck to drain and fill the oil. I found the drain plug but i cannot find a fill plug for both the transmission and the rear differential. I called up my local dealer and even they didnt know the location of the fill plugs because "no one has done it".
Anyone know the location of the fill plug for the transmission and the location for the rear differential ?
Also is it true that the transfercase shares the gear oil thats in the transmission, according to the dealer it does not require its own fluid because its part of the tranny...thanks.
As I recall the tranny is filled from the same hole as the drain. Google the Transmission maker for info. VW has a tool they sell for it. I'm going to sell my car before changing out the tranny fluid.
That's what I thought. Who makes this tranny any way ? I know the 6spd in my 2005 R53 was a getrag but I just got this car and unfortunately there isn't much info on it on the interwebs :-/

a yr ago for my 2011 s manual. the "fill" plug is few inches above the drain plug. make sure fill plug can be unscrewed BEFORE u unscrew the drain plug.. there are many stories where people drained their fluid and then they find out they cannot unscrew the fill plug..had to tow to the dealer to finish the job..
Below your intake there is your shift linkage. There is a small plastic vent cap on the driver side of it. It's easy to pop out and put back in. It's slow going but does the trick and way more accessible.

The fill plug is in a terrible spot for access, right up against a rib. I only changed mine because I had to pull an axle and lost a fair bit of fluid. I used the Redline oil.
Fwiw, I also have the 2013 ALL4 6spd JCW.
