Round Scangauge?

I was wondering if someone makes a round Scangauge like product , I've seen Aeroforce but not sure it's MINI R60 compatible, love the Cravenspeed setup w/Marshall gauges but $500 for 2 gauges is a little steep despite the great presentation. Any ideas?

I looked into this;

But decided against it...

http://www.plxdevices.com/product_in...MULTDM100OBDII

It seemed to get mixed reviews online.

That's more like what I was looking for, I'll check the reviews, it's too bad Marshall and Scangauge can't hook up to make a factory looking OBD II plug in gauge
Cheers

You might want to stay tuned for a new product from CravenSpeed then.

Since I already have a Garmin Nuvi installed, I added the Ecoroute OBDII accessory to get my guages:

That's really cool, I'm now hopeful that Cravenspeed has something coming that looks a bit more OEM and performs a similar function

Which parameters were you planning to monitor?

I was thinking fairly basic stuff engine temp, oil pressure, etc as you know MINI is lacking in some of the basics, it would great if I could monitor the same things scangauge covers but alot of that is unimprotant to me.

I do not believe oil pressure is on networked CAN data.. Or at least no one (inc. Scangauge) has codes for it. As far as I know it's and on/off pressure type switch..

I find.. Oil temp, Coolant, Voltage.. Useful..

Well, here is what I can tell you. The first available CravenSpeed gauges will be engine temp and boost/vac. We do expect to have AFR and Voltmeter gauges available pretty soon after temp and boost. The gauges will match the factory tach, and will install by just plugging them into the OBDII port.

Danjreed is right; the ECU does not read an exact oil PSI which is why the scangauge and similar devices cannot get a readout. That makes it tricky but not impossible. We do have a plan for how to get it done, but that is a little further down the line.

The new Gauges will be built right into The FlexPod.

This is one of the prototypes that we built some time ago to test the hardware. The final ones will look better, but they already work great.

Thanks, we think so too. I will open up pre-orders as soon as I have a confirmed date when we'll be able to ship them. I do expect that date to be next month, but I am not in the practice of making promises that I cannot keep...so don't hold me to that.

I'm guessing it's going to be quite a bit more expensive than an SG?

It will be, but it should be close to the cost of our Complete Gauge Kit Now. We we would like keep the final cost under $500 for a pair of gauges that are able to be installed in about 15 minutes from start to finish.

That's exactly it, while my original post laments paying $500 for 2 gauges, it's also about the additional work involved in making the mechanical gauges funtional. And yes $500 is still a lot for 2 gauges, when a Scangauge II is significantly cheaper for a multitude of information. For me the factory look and ease of installation is far more appealing(worth paying for) than the rectangular bar from Scangauge.

Will the temp gauge be available by itself for people that do not have a turbo?

Quite possibly, but I am not 100% sure about that. I do know that the first gauges will be available for gen2 MINI's only. We love the R53, but the older OBDII protocol creates it's own set of challenges.
