Talking

After receiving a production number on 6/1/12, my Mini FINALLY went into production this morning. Not sure what the delay was, and OL is still showing as "on order" but my MA sent me a screen shot of his DB that shows she (yes, my ALL4 will be a she) went into production at 7:25 this morning and she has a VIN and everything. Wahoo! That totally made my Monday!

He didn't provide me an estimated completion date yet, but based on the typical 10-11 days I've read elsewhere, I'm really, really hoping she makes on the 6/29 out of Bremerhaven. Fingers crossed!!!!

Congrats. Mini does a good job with this tracking system. It creates a lot of anxiety lol.
I'm hoping mine ships today.
I've found the OL site is roughtly 2 days behind what the automated/live ph op. details are.
Once you get the VIN, you can track everything yourself.

Hi TDN -- what do you mean when you say "Once you have the VIN, you can track everything yourself."? Thanks!

Mare,

Just for reference, mine went into production on 6/5 and has an estimated completion date of 6/19.

Thanks for the info. So I guess that means the 6/29 is probably going to be tight...more likely she'll be on the 7/4 sailing *sigh*.

Say yours is completed on the 25, do you think 4 days too short a time to get from Plant to Port?

Hope she makes it.

Thanks for your positive thoughts! I have no idea how long it takes to get from the plant to the port. I think I'll be biting my nails at least until I find out the estimated completion date. If it's too far out I'll know for certain she won't be on the 6/29. If it's around 6/25 like you posed, I'd probably drive myself (and others) nuts waiting to see if she made it onto the 6/29!

I haven't had a car in 10+ years (city living will do that to you) so now that I'm finally getting my first brand new one the waiting is killing me!

Its not as hard as it seems, https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d-updated.html

with your vin you can check the WW site for cargo or if you know the ports, you can otherwise track vessels & departures.

Ahh, OK, yes I did see that. I thought you meant there was some other "magic" way of tracking the progress of your Mini through production, other than the OL/Ask Mini.

True, but I think his main question was wondering when it'll make it to the port in order to get loaded onto a ship. So even with a VIN, that doesn't really help until you know it's completed and at least on it's way to the port.

I'm in the "no need to keep calling ask-mini" phase. From the info in the how to track thread, sounds like these first 5 days or so, they're just gathering all the pieces to be used to build the car. Then assembly, then paint, then final assembly. So probably won't be much more to report till the end of the week.

My estimated date of completion is the 18th. But, if they manage to finish by Friday, I "could" have a chance at making the ship on 6/24. Otherwise, I have a feeling it's 7/2 for me.

Yeah! I'm hoping mine makes it on that ship. My estimated completion date is 6/19 and the Fidelio leaves Bremerhaven on 6/29. Looks like it stops in NY before Brunswick, GA which is my dealer's port of entry.

Yup, the 11th in NY.
You have another boat the next day.
If it misses the the 6/29 boat, I'd have to wait another week 'till the 18th. But 10 days should be enough time to get from plant to port.

Well OL is still showing mine as "On Order" but Ask MINI was finally updated and says she has an estimated completion date of 6/20 . So, fingers crossed there is room for her on the Fidelio on 6/29!!

Congrats!
Are you looking to get a clear bra from the tint shop?
I'm thinking of doing that, but I'd have to convince the wife.

I ordered mine on 5/28 and received a production number before leaving the dealership. It went into production on 5/30 but unfortunately seems to be stuck there. Mini owners tracking listed a VIN number on 5/30 but the options are blank. Ask mini says the completion date is 6/14 but I doubt that now since my MA says the options should appear on the order details screen when production starts.

This wait is excruciating!!

well, mine has been at he port awaiting a vessel since last Thursday :( It didnt make the departure I thought, so now it looks like It will be here too late for me to use my Take Down cert. My MA has agreed to throw in a few small extras(mats, etc) becuase of this, but theu dont add up to anything close to $750. SuckY!

I think I want to go to another dealership just to take a test drive again, The wait is killing me.

Where do you see another boat the next day?
Im tracking mine from Bremerhaven to NY.
I see Don Juan lvg on 6/20 & Fidelio on 6/29.
The next departure from Bremerhaeven to NY shows Turandot lvg on 7/4

..am I missing something?

Well, if everything is on schedule, all the parts should be gathered for my CM and actual assembly should be starting soon. One weird thing, the owner's lounge info still shows my color and VIN, but no longer shows the actual details on the build. No biggie, I'm sure they know what they're doing. Just weird how that system seems to work.

I'll probably call ask-mini and speak to a rep on Friday for an update. Hopefully it'll be at least in paint by then.

I did get a quote from my clear bra / tint guy. $450 for the clear bra (including rear bumper) and $300 for ceramic tint. Not bad.

Still waiting on a quote from the dealership.

That's for JasonTom's MINI. It's coming in through GA, so it misses the Fidelio on the 29th, it still might make the Courage on the 30th. That ship bypasses NY/NJ. So yeah, the next boat for you and me after the Fidelio is the Turandot leaving on the 4th and arriving in NY on the 18th.

That little options window is blank for me too, but the entire OL has been down half the times I check anyway, so I think they've been having some technical difficulties.

Thanks for the info on the quote. Something to think about.

So....anyone remember my hope for a fast shipment...It seems that the trucking company keeps waiting to load my vehicle, though I can only hope it is loaded now. I am sitting at 10 weeks in and my estimated delivery date slips every couple of days in the OL. It has basically taken the trucking company almost as long to get my car from California to Colorado as it did from Germany to California. I think the worst part is that I cannot track it and am at the mercy of the Owners Lounge/Ask MINI. The excitement has started to fade and the frustration has begun to rise. I guess maybe I can pick it up next Saturday. The real kicker is my MA had a car on the same ship and it managed to arrive at the dealership Monday. Thanks for listening to me gripe...I appreciate it.
