Question Ordering tomorrow - any last minute advice?

After weeks of research and prep we're heading to dealership to finalize our order tomorrow. Just wanted to check in with the experts and see if there's anything I should ask or know before we seal the deal. Thanks in advance for all responses.

Very excited!

Remember to ask them to throw in some freebies: rubber floor mats, boot mats, etc...

I would just say make sure you order what you want. I acutally contacted my MA 2X after I placed my order to add things. I don't buy cars that often and at this stage in my life I didn't think I should skimp on an option that I wanted. That being said, the way Mini has it's packages configured and the "if you get this you must also get that" could make it expensive. There are a couple of things that I could have got extra but I figured those I could really live without. Just do it before the drop dead go to production date!!!

Get Mini Connected.
I have absolutely no use for it, but would happily pay to get that stupid gigantic speedo gone from my dash. When I test drove I was not a fan, but thought I would put up with it since I did not need the Connected, but now I am soooo tired of looking at it, especially since it serves no purpose.

There is a thread here, somewhere, on what changes people would have made to the car they bought.

If I recall correctly, the xenon/adaptive headlights and upgraded sound system were the two most mentioned.

STRONGLY suggest you add the back up sensor thing. Not sure its technical name.

I used to get a grin out of this option: how hard could it be to park a MINI?

Then, after a few dealer visits: you actually can't see much of the car from the driver's seat!

Auto A/ C is a worthwhile option. Beats playing with the other *****. Set the temp and fuhgetaboudit.

We've been researching a lot ourselves, hopefully to order something soon!

Some specifics I added based on the comments here, or that I wouldn't want to live without:

Xenon headlights *and* the cool adaptive lighting feature (to follow the road while driving). Can't have factory black housings though.

Auto A/C (spoiled by two other cars that have it)

Heated seats

Headlamp washers (nice on sloppy slushy days)

Heated mirrors and washer jets (just $100...avoids tricky frost scraping from the mirrors in winter)

Rear fog lamp (fills a switch slot that would be blank otherwise; and, how Brit! for just $100)

The H/K system (maybe you could do a nice system later...we never do, there's always some home improvement project that needs the money more; this choice ensures fairly decent tunes from day one)

Dynamic traction control (our MA highly recommended, among just 2-3 must haves on his list)

White turn signal lenses (no "egg yolks")

You can get black adaptive now. In the beginning there were a few months where you could not.

I would steer away from ALL4 unless I really needed the extra traction. The toll on performance and consumption is too hard to justify otherwise.

Yep, yetti is right! I ordered mine with adaptive and black headlight housing.

Darn it! I would have gotten adaptive if they offered it with the black headlight housings at the time!!!

Garm, you can now! You can even choose it on the configurator now.

I have the Sport package on my MCS and it included the factory stripes, but I deleted them and did aftermarket viper stripes instead. The factory stripes are nice, but everyone has them. You can get creative and really personalize your MINI with aftermarket stripes. JMO

[QUOTE]Some specifics I added based on the comments here, or that I wouldn't want to live without:

Xenon headlights *and* the cool adaptive lighting feature (to follow the road while driving). Can't have factory black housings though.
When I ordered my MCS you couldn't get adaptive with the black housings so I opted for the black housings because they look so cool, especially on a blacked out Spice Orange like I have. I haven't missed the adaptive at all.

Auto A/C (spoiled by two other cars that have it)
I had auto A/C on the 335i I had before the MINI so I ordered it, but for the first two weeks I didn't even have the "auto" button pushed in and didn't know it! It's very easy and not much trouble at all to manually adjust it. It came with the Premium package, but if I had to pay for it separately, I wouldn't get it.

Heated seats
I live in Southern CA so not much need for heated seats, but my wife likes them in her car. I'd rather put up with the cool seats than sweat when they heat up.

Headlamp washers (nice on sloppy slushy days)
Not many slushy days in So Cal.

Heated mirrors and washer jets (just $100...avoids tricky frost scraping from the mirrors in winter)
What's frost?

Rear fog lamp (fills a switch slot that would be blank otherwise; and, how Brit! for just $100)
YES! They hold you ransom for that $100! I knew the empty slot would have driven me crazy so I paid the ransom. I've never even turned them on yet, but I like the switch.

The H/K system (maybe you could do a nice system later...we never do, there's always some home improvement project that needs the money more; this choice ensures fairly decent tunes from day one)
H/K is not the greatest sound system on the planet, but I like it and the stock system is terrible. Very worthwhile option.

Dynamic traction control (our MA highly recommended, among just 2-3 must haves on his list)
Your MA was right. Very good option to have.

White turn signal lenses (no "egg yolks")[QUOTE]
I also did the white turn signal lenses, but the buld is amber and when you look at the car head on, they still look like egg yolks because of the reflection of the amber bulb. Worth getting, but I'm disappointed in how yellow they look even with the clear lenses.

It's interesting how much the difference in climate changes the way you option the car. I wouldn't change a thing about my MINI except
for the piano black interior trim. It shows every finger print and you have to be careful of scratches and swirls.

that's a great choice. im browsing this site on my phone so sorry if someone said this but look into the jcw aero kit. that is the only thing that i am adding to my CMS later on since its a bit pricey.

My advice is::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

****************Get everything in writing*******************

Do not depend on promises or any verbal crap at all.

Write it all down exactly what you are getting and exactly what you have to pay when the new car is delivered to you.

Then if they try to bump you into paying more or your car is not what you ordered they are the one's stuck and not you.

Never depend on a salesman remembering what they promised at the time of the sale.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ GET IT IN WRITING $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
