Countryman S Red Brake Ducts & Mirror Caps

Folks -

Can anyone give me an idea of the difficulty (and procedure) to replace the brake ducts and mirror caps on the Countryman S with the red parts? I can't believe it's too complicated but ... ya never know! I don't want to get caught up having to remove the front bumper cover -- done that enough times on my R53!

TIA,

Mirror caps would take all of 5 minutes, you just pull hard and then snap the new ones back on. The brake ducts, I'm not so sure, but it wouldn't involve bumper removal.

Brake ducts aren't too bad. Once you get the replacement ones, you will understand where you need to pry around the existing ones to pop the clips loose to slide them out. Took me a few tries because I was being too timid at first, but I eventually got mine out to replace them with the chrome ones.

I didn't do it myself, but the body shop who installed my aero kit (and painted my ducts) said "it was easy, they pop out".

I'll have to take their word for it...

Promise it's not too hard

Here are some photos of the clips on one of the ducts I removed:

EDIT:

Don't know why all my photos upload upside down the first time. I'm not going to correct it since you can still see the clips.

Excellent! This looks like something I can do.

I am assuming that the brake ducts tabs (clips) go over the mechanism that catches them? Or does the duct fit inside a "receiver" part? I'm sure all this will be much clearer once I take delivery and have a chance to nose around a bit.

So the mirror caps just yank off? No prying needed?

Thanks, All!

I'm looking into the red mirror/brake duct combo for the white light/black roof All4 I just ordered, I suppose I can order it from my dealership but would there be a more economical option out there? not sure how the paint would fare vs. the factory parts!

@Bentyyc, I love how your ride looks, any insights about painted ducts?

Go to Sewell Mini's website. I just ordered mine yesterday for $185 plus shipping. That's a phenomenal price. I called my MA to see if he could match it and he couldn't get within $75 of that price. I figure I'll save the 2 hours of labor at $115 per he would have charged me for install and do it myself.

Thumbs up Great price

Thanks for the tip! unbeatable price!!! wouldn't have found it and I did spend some time looking around .

They have discounted price on pretty much everything you can find at any dealership, my CM4 won't get here until another couple of months but man you should look at my shopping cart, it's loaded with all the accessories!!
Do you know if this is some sort of limited sale?!! just wondering if I can wait a little

You'd have to call them to verify, but I would assume up to Christmas. The bane of having a Mini on order is how much stuff you buy in anticipation. I think they know exactly what they're doing. ;-)

Koopah,
How did this install go for you? Pretty easy? Any words of wisdom?

I want my mirror caps and brake ducts to be Orange. Whats the best way to get them that color? go to a body shop and have them painted or can i go to a vinyl shop and have them put vinyl on it?
Whats most cost effective? Is plastidip even an option?

What are most of you doing if you want something other the colors and designs available from Mini

MINI sells mirror caps in a bunch of different colors, including orange. Not the same story for brake ducts unfortunately. Vinyl is tough because of the curved surface. Body shop is probably your best bet and will guarantee the parts match. They may give you a discount if you do the sanding yourself (if you think it's worth your time).

I had my painted Spice Orange. That is the easiest way to do the ducts.
