P1338 Crankshaft Position Sensor

This R60 All4's check engine light came on with code P1338. Looked online and found that it was a Crankshaft Sensor. Ordered the part from ECS Tuning for total of $70. But I can not locate this sensor.

Looking at the exploded view from Realoem.com looks like it is on the back bottom of the engine. Picture location at the bottom.

I must not be seeing this location.

BMW Part# 13627561753
ECSTuning Part# ES#34419

Uses a 25mm torx

So the transfer case needs to be removed or just getting it up on ramps or raising it is the way to get to it?

The code never came back and never replaced the part. Did not feel good about messing with the transfer case. I did call MINI and they said they would just charge me labor to have the part installed. I think it was $200 to $300 for the labor.

guys - its part of the 4 year 50k warranty . . . why would you want to fix it yourself? You void the crankshaft sensor warranty doing so - the oldest vehicles are barely 4 years old . . .

My CM is out of warranty, 2/11 production. They were making and selling them in 2010.

Mine had 70K+ when it gave the code P1338. I no longer need the part and I'm selling it for $40.

It never came back on. But the only way I found to make it turn on in the first place was to mash the gas(petrol) pedal to the floor, no matter what speed, and mKe the car stutter till the reduce power warning came on and the check engine light came on. I never used the part and I am selling it for $40
