R60 How long after production is completed?
How long after production is completed?
Hi all. I ordered my CM on 2/24, and had a production number right away. While the MINI OL says it is "awaiting production", the automated phone number says it is in production and will be finished March 3rd! My MA estimated at the time we ordered that he would not arrive until the first week of May. Will it really take an additional 8 weeks to get here? I am in Utah, btw, so I know it will be on the ship much longer than it is for east coast people.
Yes, I'm being incredibly impatient. This is my second MINI that I've ordered, and the first time I just about lost my mind. I thought I'd do better this time, but apparently not. I am totally obsessing.

Oh, wow, yours took a long time . . .
Yes it will... Being on the West Coast and ordering a Countryman means that your MINI will be loaded on a ship in Bremerhaven, that ship will then go to Southampton for more MINIs (and Jags, and Rolls Royces) cross the Atlantic, transit the Panama Canal, sail up the West Coast to LA... Then get loaded on a truck, and trucked to Utah...
Even worse, your MINI may not get loaded on the first available ship immediately upon arrival in Bremerhaven, but may have to wait on a ship departure or 3 depending on the shipping schedule and how many other vehicles are ahead of your MINI, both in Bremerhaven AND Southampton.

Figure a minimum of three weeks from Bremerhaven to Port Hueneme, CA (MINI's West Coast POE). Then, probably another 7-10 days from Southern California to UTAH via car carrier.
If you "track" your car, you'll know when it actually gets on a ship and then follow its progress across the Atlantic, through the Panama Canal, and up to California. It won't make the wait seem any shorter, but it might make it more fun.

Sorry... that should say March 14, not May 14! I hadn't had my coffee yet!

Can't really compare a MINI that comes in from the East Coast from one that comes in from the West Coast....
Sure you can. When you are talking about delivery time from factory/port to dealership.
Ordered mine the weekend before Thanksgiving (11/23). It was built the next week and then was immediately shipped to Bremerhaven. It sat at Bremerhaven for 2 weeks waiting for a boat, shipped from Bremerhaven on December 17th, saw the boat on webcam going through the Panama Canal on Christmas day, arrived at Port Hueneme on January 8th, and I took delivery on January 21st.
So a little over 8 weeks from order to delivery in Denver. You could shave up to 2 weeks off the time if your car gets to Bremerhaven and immediately gets on a boat, but my car got to Bremerhaven the day a boat was leaving and didn't make it on. I checked http://sagaweb.2wglobal.com/AppSchedules/, and there are ships leaving Bremerhaven for PH on the 9th and 15th, so once it gets on a ship you can figure out the rest of the time based on what I put above.

Here is the details on my 2014 R57 order:
Ordered 4 Jan
Scheduled for Production 24 Jan
Awaiting transportation 7 Feb
En Route 28 Feb (currently crossing the Atlantic on board the MV Tarago)
It took 20 days for production to get scheduled, and 21 days to leave the port after it was completed. Hopefully faster for you. I think I hit all the red lights along the way so far.

Anyhow, hopefully have some great drop-top weather by the time it arrives.
When I ordered mine till I took delivery was just over 3 weeks.. But the bottle neck seems to be in the shipping department. That's hit and miss type deal. If yours is waiting at port you can do some foot work and see what trans port ships are there and then log into there web site and punch your vin in as the cargo number. You will know if it is on one far before mini usa will or the good old OL on minis web site if that is even still up! lol this works for some tracking but not all..Mine was on the Parsifal ship!
We ordered my Wife's Mini CM All4 a couple of days before X'mas 2013 and we should be picking it up from Tampa Mini this Saturday. That's about 10 weeks....pretty long IMO, but I'm sure ordering right before the Xmas holiday didn't help. Dealer said typically 6-8 weeks, throw in the production facility closes for the week between X'mas and New Years and that may explain the extra long delay. I found the "Track Your Mini" feature on the owner's website sux and the dealer typically knows more/truth. Once you see your Mini is "Awaiting Transport" ask your Dealer to inform you what ship it's loaded on. For us it was the "Columbia Highway" and the favorite part for me was tracking the ships progress using what's known as AIS (Automated Identification System). There are websites that will help you track your ship till it gets to your offload port. Cars load in Bramerhaven Germany, ship heads for the UK, than either NYC or for us Baltimore MD, than Charlotte SC or for us it ended in Brunswick GA

Our mini was offloaded on Sunday and should be shipped to the dealer within 3-4 days. A day for dealer prep and we are hoping to pick it up this weekend.

Finally . . .
Iggy finished production on the 3rd, but took his time getting to port. He's finally there, however, and waiting to get on a ship. There's one that leaves tomorrow, but not holding my breath. There's another that leaves on the 14th . . . it would be awesome if he can get a place on that one! After that, there isn't a ship until the 23rd . . .

Once you know the ship you can track it at marinetraffic.com as long as it it within AIS range which are the green squares. Mine went silent for a few days after passing some islands in the north atlantic and then came back up once it hit Virginia Beach.
My first CM took forever to get here, delays all around. It was one of the first produced.
Ordered my replacement on Feb 17th. My lease is up July 28th, so that is the mental date for me. I know if it arrives sooner I will get it sooner, but trying not to think about it.
