New to the forum and mini world. My brother and I acquired a 2013 Countryman S ALL 4 manual with about 160K miles. It was a beater at first for my brother, but turned out to be actually in decent shape for what it is. It currently has a borla axle back on it. It needs a turbo and suspension. I dont know what else has been done in its history but body and chassis are in really good shape. It seems to drive and run fairly well and smooth (obviously excluding the turbo issue). Like engine/trans/exhaust/clutch are all in fairly good working condition given the mileage. Tiny bit of piston blow by it looks like, but I would totally do a rebuild or long block if it was worth it or could get away with another round on this car. I was hoping for some advice on if I should mod this thing or not and longevity of these cars. Ideally we'd like a daily driver with a little pep. Was looking at BorgWarner 41mm compressor, intake and a tiny tune. Do I need to increase exhaust pipe size? and are extra coolers necessary? Any help is greatly appreciated!

You can get a used low mile engine for a few grand or you could rebuild it for similar cost, it would be up to you whether either would be worth it. I love my R60 All4 S, the first few things made the biggest difference in driving it and how it looks - lighter weight rims, a sprintbooster + JB4, Rev9 coilovers, 24mm RSB, Gplus intercooler, hi-flow cat + full exhaust and a new turbo. I planned on getting a Airwerks SX or a TTE turbo at some point, but its fine the way it is for now. I planned on getting a RMW Race N18 later down the road, I find the R60 as the most practical and still sporty MINI. Just think hard on if you think you really want to invest your time and money on it, some people have a rough experience with minis, my experience with the R56 has been pretty bad but the R60 has been flawless outside of a voltage issue. Personally, I would do the inexpensive things first and drive it for a decent amount of time and see how reliable it is for you, then decide whether you want to advance or not.
