Oil air filters OK?

Looking for a new air filter for my R60 JCW. Goal is a improved performance and would like to hear the turbo.m sounds like the K&N filter does this. Reading other posts some say stay away from air filters with oil but any seem to be using them. Am I ok with air filter that uses oil? Any suggestions on something different? I will spend more if there is something better?

We don't recommend oil filters as they can cause a check engine light, but even if they don't just a little oil on the sensor can effect it reading so you may not get max performance. Plus we can get dry filters that flow as well if not better for the same price. Also we have had dealers try to void warranties for using oil filters.
This is what we use with no issues

Yes, oil is typically not recommended as they tend to gum on MAF. The aFe Power Pro Dry S Air Filters are a great choice. Some good info in this NAM thread here.
