JCW or hybrid turbo

Hello everyone.

I would like to have your experienced opinion!

I'm considering to put a JCW or hybrid turbo (just compressor side)

Then, i'll go for a manic tune.

My main goal is to gain better top end power.

Once i´m not considering meth by now, is best to suit lower boost? For example: Map A: 17 psi, Map B: 18 psi....

Any advice is wellcome!

Mini regards.

If you want more top end power then you really need a bigger turbine. The stock S and JCW run out of air at higher rpm. You will lose some low end response.

so now another Question, i like to tame down the exhaust, i was thinking instead of my 3" pipe to muffler just go with 2.5" and a RES.
thoughts Please.

Any advices from those that upgrade the turbo... is recomended to "work" with a little less boost?

I already have 100 cell akrap cat, full 2.5" exhaust, Bigger intercooler, colder plugs...

Thanks on advance!

Well went to my trusted muffler shop, installed a 2.5" pipe from down pipe with a very nice MF resenator now I like to drive the car very deep sound and still have my power...love it before it was 3" straight pipe to muffler I think it was stealing HP. I kinda feel I have a little more pep.

We have the same setup. I also added the Forge BOV Recirculating. Luv that surberine sound when it releases boost, but I've done my homework on this cause I'm shopping for a new high flow turbo and here's what it comes down to.
If you're looking for top end go with a 47mm or higher HP turbo. They'll take a little longer to spool but the dyno data says you'll have all the top end you need for tracking. The 43mm HP turbo is quick spooling and best suited for folks who want speed quickly and throughout the rpm range. I've decided to go with a JMTC 43mm. Hope this helps.

Stage 2 question - Inspection

I'm currently in CO and we don't even have inspections. However, I'm moving to NJ in about 9 months and they are notorious for being strict. Do I have any chance passing with Stage 2? I am currently mod free and I'm trying to figure out if Stage 2 is worth the aggravation or if I should just go with Stage 1 (Intercooler, plugs, ECU) Thanks!

If you went with stage 2 make sure you get the sps you can hook it to your OBD and back to stock drive a few miles before inspection it will pass.

No one jumped on this one and I was wondering as well

For those of you with a catless downpipe, how have you been passing inspection? I've been told the Manic Stage 2 tune will eliminate the CEL due to the downpipe but will NOT set the OBD catalyst readiness monitor. This is crucial for me as the car will pass visual with the secondary cat but will not pass the scan here in PA for OBD readiness monitors. If this is true I'm considering throwing in the towel and going back to stock because its a pain in the butt to swap out the downpipe annually.

Thoughts ??!?!

Please define how many miles? 20, 50, 80? I just had mine in the stock map and a CEL came on. Cleared it and 2 monitors are not ready. Drove probably 2 miles since then.

I passed Connecticut state emissions test with Manic Stage 2 running on map B. State allows up to one "Not Ready" monitor, and my downstream O2 sensor shows "Not Ready" on all maps, except "Stock" map. "Stock" map will illuminate the CEL for downstream O2 sensor.

I passed my inspection about 5 -8 miles prior I switched to stock with my sps and monitored they both went green in ready state, and passed with flying colors.
thx to Mario for SPS.

Hi guys/gals. Ok so I just went through this entire thread, and I am admittedly not even close to you guys about this stuff, so I apologize for what I guess is a pretty stupid question, but why is it that all the gen 2’s are able to handle all this power, or potential power, (such as Mario’s post of that incredible 400+ HP turbo upgrade), but the gen 3’s can’t? As you can see I’ve got a ‘16 f56 JCW, and according to all the huge amounts of threads I’ve been through, there seems to be too many ancillary issues that my car simply can’t handle. I mean if you google “turbo upgrades for 2012 MCS” you get about 20 options for 400+ hp gains. What’s the deal here? Again, my apologies for such a “noob” question.

Mike

Whoa......... that's totally exhaust **** right there?!?! I don't even want to ask what that 400whp build costs.

What stock bits are being upgraded to handle that power Mario ?

Noticed the "Made in Canada" markings. Very cool.

I've seen the NGK plugs for Stage II listed on this forum at $75 when breaking down costs of Stage II. On Amazon, they are $38. Am I missing something?

Amazon Amazon

Nevermind, I got my answer
