Megan Racing exhaust for R60

So I stumbled upon a Megan Racing axle back exhaust system on Ebay and found it for sale on other websites as well like this one: http://www.redline360.com/megan-raci...0-MR-ABE-MCC11

I know of all the common exhausts that you can buy but have never heard of these guys. Anybody have any experience with them? http://www.meganracing.com/index.asp

Seems like a good price and it sounds pretty good as well

Waddya think? Cheers!

Megan racing has been around the sport compact scene awhile, and from what I can recall they have a good product.

Has anyone purchased this yet? Can we get some more sound clips and reviews please. Very interested in this. Want to add a little more sound to the Mini but not too loud. This looks like a good option as well as value.

I just put this on my Paceman. Very nicely built piece, fits perfectly; just needs the stock pipe cut. It supposedly is a bolt-on, but I had a local shop do it because 1, I'm not much of a wrench; and 2, I'm not very well equipped in case something didn't fit right and needed a mod. But the guys who put it on welded it instead of bolting it and said it fit right in place.

As for sound, it's barely louder than stock (at the moment), with a slightly deeper tone. I've only got a cell phone to make a clip with, and I'm pretty sure you would not hear a difference between this and stock.

But there is a noticeable little kick in the pants for performance. Seems to be a combination of both better throttle response and a little more grunt when you stand on it.

If you don't want to dump big bucks on a full cat-back system and you're not intent on setting off car alarms, this is an option that is definitely worth looking into. Looks pretty nice too, I think.

thanks for the feedback, we've had a couple people order them but this is the first time we've heard from someone that got in on.

Cool! (What kinda discount could that get me on a CAI?? )

Side note (no pun intended) -- each day the exhaust seems to be getting a little bit more tone. Today on the way home I shut the radio off and opened the windows, and it's definitely developing a throaty kind of buzz. Not loud, just a little more pronounced than stock. I can already tell this is not going to help my fuel mileage at all.

FWIW I had a Megan exhaust on my R53 for about a year and I loved it. Took it off when I traded the car, still looked great, always sounded good.

So....is this only for 2WD cars?

I will be getting this installed within the month. I will post sound clips and reviews- really surprised there is not more traction online for this- positive or negative (especially people wanting to try it on the cheap- lowest I have seen is $370)

I installed the system this morning. Total time from pulling onto ramps to done was 18 minutes. They suggest welding but I used a 2.25" lap joint band clamp and it works fine. the New muffler although not as wide side to side is larger around and clearance is tight. I'll post videos over the weekend or a sound clip. Sound much better than stock system.

Nice!! Remember it'll break in as well over the next month or so and get deeper/louder!

Mine has taken several months to get a deeper tone, and it's still just marginally louder than stock, which is just fine with me. Because of the mellower summer we're having this year, I've been driving around with the windows down much more than last year, enjoying all the noises it and the VIP CAI are making. The pop and burble in Sport mode now on deceleration is much more discernible than before. What I really like about this exhaust is that you can hear it on the highway, but it's not an annoyingly loud drone. It's not in-your-face obnoxious, it's just there. And I like it.

I put about 150 miles on last evening and the exhaust tone is just a bit deeper, The sound level to me is maybe 1 or 2 db louder not much yet. What did surprise me was I can honestly feel a difference in how the car feels, seems like the Turbo is spooling faster and passing from 65 to 80 mph is faster.

Nothing really noticeable, but the turbo seems to spool up a little quicker.

So after 2 weeks and approx. 400 miles I can say that the Megan Exhaust is not noticeably louder than stock. Its certainly not as loud as the Magnaflow on my wifes R53. The tips look better and I do think its better flowing going by both gas mileage and feel.

So has anyone had the resonator removed with the Megan axle back? From what I have read on other posts, this helps the exhaust with a louder note, but nobody has commented on doing this with the Megan exhaust. I had my Megan axle back put on last week, and don't really notice much of a difference in the sound level. Its looks bad ***, but that is about it. I had a Magnaflow on my R56, and it called for removal of the resonator, and it sounded awesome.
