Drivetrain Has anyone done their OWN CAI?
Has anyone done their OWN CAI?
I was looking at some of the kits for the R60, and it seems bloody simple, yet bloody expensive. Cone filter, bracket, and some tubing. Well, since you can buy all these pieces separate, and make others, why not? Cardboard template will help me fab a carbon fiber one. I am sure (not sure where) you can get generic silicone tubes. Does anyone know what size? It looks about 3" dia, but have not measured. Keep some of the sensors where they are, and bolt on a bend, and then a cone. Heat shield I can also make.
So....has anyone ELSE tried this? Advice? Where to get stock tubing, will it mount right on the OEM tubes? Which filter can I get that will clamp onto the new tubes, etc?

I get what you're saying.....
if people compared Subie aftermarket items and mini aftermarket items...in line of development/horsepower gains and prices.....people wouldn't be buying the BS that's out there....
In other words....overpriced underdeveloped mini aftermarket parts....big money....minimal gains
Your best bet is getting a tune my friend...mini has developed a pretty damn good engine but it just needs some tuner love!

Tuned = aftermarket parts yes? Besides the obvious engine remap, which costs how much? I am lucky enough to have the ability to MAKE most parts, except for the tubes, so I would love to customize my Mini like that, because no one else willhave one
