R59 Missing SAT icon for my factory radio
Missing SAT icon for my factory radio
Good morning everyone. I think this is my 9th MINI I've owned. On purchase, the LCI for the radio showing COMP, Radio, AUX, SAT was totally black. Not working at all. I knew I had a SAT radio to start. I replace the radio assembly with a SAT radio a year younger.
Everything about the radio is perfect except no SAT icon to turn on my Sirius. When I purchased the used radio, the vendor showed everything working properly on the indicator screen. On installation, SAT was missing.
Sent the car to the dealer who at first said the radio was bad ($1800). This was the reason I chose to buy and install a factory set-up myself (also probably the reason a lot of people move to replacing the radio with Android. After reviewing the radio, they indicated I needed to buy a program/app package from MINI for $400 and tech install at $200. I love the car with all it's faults but there's got to be someone out there who has come across the same problem. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Its must have been deactivated on a software update when they installed the new radio? I would go back to the dealer that installed it.
I know it shows up when you have the SAT Radio feature or what they call dealer SAT PREP, then you pay the dealer like $300-400 to turn it on and activate it.
Never really seen one just disappear out of the blue without anything done.

I purchased the radio and I installed it. The seller for the radio replacement displayed the LCI showing all the functions in tact..out of the salvage vehicle on a work bench.
First thing I did after installation was to contact Sirius to update the serial on the radio...they pinged the new radio to update the signal. Unfortunately with no SAT icon, I'm unable get the signal so I can log in on the radio. I bought this car in March in Florida. The minute i purchased the car in Florida, i was getting activation requests and promo material via mail and email from Sirius.
After getting it to NY, I sent it to a dealer to go over the car. This was after installing the radio myself.
This was a key complaint on the to do list when reviewing the car. On speaking to the dealer in NY, they were quoting $400 for the program and $200 to install it. That seemed a little extreme.
Thus, I'm thinking, there's got to be other people out there who have gone through this was well. Looking at YouTube, you see one heck of a lot of people installing Android systems.
After this, I'm thinking I may have chosen the wrong direction.
ECS I do appreciate your time and input. Many thanks. I do buy from. You have top flight product.

Glad to help, yep they have to turn it on and then use the activation code. Dealer level stuff.
