I'm looking to buy a used Mini and would like to have satellite radio in it. From the VIN look up, I found a car I'm looking at has on it:

6FC RADIO MINI BOOST CD
645 RADIO CONTROL US
653 HIGH DEFINITION RADIO
693 SATELLITE TUNER PREPARATION

What does satellite tuner preparation mean? Does that mean there's a way to add satellite radio? If yes, how?

I haven't been able to see the car in person yet. Near as I can tell from the description and pictures it doesn't seem to have satellite radio.

I seem to remember a thread on this. I believe it does have some of the parts, though not sure. I've got Sat radio in ours, had a subscription for about a year as we were doing a lot of traveling. Finally turned it off, the audio quality was horrible..

 

It means that it has SAT radio but it still needs to be enabled by the dealership, typically about $500 service fee. Depending on the specific year, this may or may not be done at home with the proper know how, software and cables.
