R59 Seat Belt Jam

Seat Belt Jam

I have a knotty problem: a passenger in my 2014 JCW Roadster got her seat-belt wrapped around the side seat-adjustment handle as she was exiting the car, and the retractor locked down. There is virtually no slack, it's completely taut, so the belt can't be fed back into the retractor nor can it be loosened enough to unwrap it from the handle.

Is there a solution I'm missing, short of removing the whole seat? I'd like to take off the plastic retractor cap and pull out the seat-belt mechanism, but it doesn't seem designed for easy removal. Thanks!

It's only four bolts to loosen up the seat, I would do it that way. Easy to do, no chance of messing up your seatbelt mechanism. In the time you loosen up the bolts, let her buy you a few beers
