Stuck antenna mast!

I was going to try out an antenna GoPro mount, but I can't get my antenna mast off. The vinyl just turns when I try to unscrew it. Is there any way to get this off without destroying the mast or the base? Should I just go at it from the bottom? This is a 2014 Roadster.

not sure I understand where you are trying to turn from .....

I would grab at the base .... you can see the seam where the two parts join . . .

are you original owner?

After a theft or two ... some put some locktite on the threads .....

It has the same base as my R58 JCW. Should turn the mast and come right out. Is my guess the little antenna rod itself is spinning inside itself? Or the person did loctite it.

The bottom where it joins the base and is almost half an inch thick. I have a R53 and the antenna is easy to take on and off on that car. It seems like the threads are rusted or someone glued it on. I'm the 2nd owner.

Just like that. I'm wondering whether I'd need to go at the antenna rod with vise grips or if there's a way to get at it from under the fender. I can't imagine anyone wanting to steal or Loctite the OEM long mast, but you never know.

kids swipe ant' in general in my pretty nice neighborhood. Often I find 'em tossed in the bushes nearby .....

Not unlike the days of stealing hood ornaments ... hence after buying a replacement or two one resorts to Loctite. Dau lost two off a KIA so they ain't looking for something special, just "being kids" ..... valve caps off tires are popular too. Caught a kid trying to take mine and his pockets were FULL .... parents escorted him door to door thru the neighborhood apologizing and returning!
