R59 Ist Road Trip!
Ist Road Trip!
Well, my wife and I just completed our first road trip to Tarrytown , NY... Sorry, no photos... Thought I could get a photo with the Hudson River in background.... Didn't ...
Some thoughts : had to go down top up on a very hot, humid day ( air conditioner worked just fine..); return trip.. wife drove, top down all the way; the roadster drove like a charm , but I have issues, not roadster specific ... When sitting in car for 2 hours plus( especially as the driver..), back starts to hurt, legs get tingly , cramps... It sucks getting old... ; used google maps on my iphone instead of my Mini Nav.... Noticed, however, that the audio did sync with my radio, and, most pleasingly , my Nav map did also..
I love this car... Sorry for the lack of photo.
Best,
John (JoNack)

Oh I can't agree with that statement, as Lil Raggi is much more comfortable than my previous r56 JCW. Some of this might on account of my tires that have a bit more sidewall. They're 205 x 50 x 17, rather than the stock 205 x 45 x 17's that came on the car. Also, these are not runflats. Anyway, that has been my experience so far with Lil Raggi and his comfort level. Oh yes, handling has been superb too.
For what it's worth, a lot of people don't have their seats adjusted for long-term comfort, but rather what feels good immediately after sitting down.
For lower-leg numbness or tingling, you need to avoid any pressure on the back of your legs by the front of the seat so that you're not restricting blood flow. To avoid this, you'd adjust the height and back a bit (We dont have the tilt unfortunately). You might even scoot the seat forward a notch or too so that your knees bend up a bit, lifting your legs up slightly more.
Back aches can occur if your seat is leaned too far back. You're going to end up using your back muscles more to keep you in your seat rather than if you were properly held in between the bolsters.
It can sometimes be just one notch of adjustment!

Aging with pains
On the flip side to aches and pains, I hesitated buying a manual transmission due to an ongoing pain in my left (clutch) knee. I overcame my fears and ordered the manual anyway. I can honestly say that my knee has never felt better. It's gotta be from the constant shifting as we travel thru the twisties of Wisconsin.
We picked ours up May 21, 2012 and have 20,245 miles on it already! WE'RE HAVING A BALL!
I hope you can find the right position so you feel good driving yours...theres so much fun to be had!
Good luck!

Judscoop that's an interesting though. I've got arthritis from breaking my ankle back in the day and avoided a manual transmission on my cars until getting the Roadster because it just didn't seem right to do an auto.
Thinking about it, I don't think I"ve had any real flare-ups since I started doing manual. I work a desktop (IT SysAdmin) so it never really gets much work. The real test will be when I do some hikes this year, but it could be a form of physical therapy.
Maybe my insurance would pay my car payments!? ;P
