How far are you from Mini Dealership???
How far are you from the nearest mini dealer? And, is this an issue for you?I am 30 miles away from my BMW Dealer. Beyond regular maintenance, I have had to make many trips back to deal with warranty issues; one required a tow. A real pain in the ***! This made me look around... and to the roadster. But, the nearest mini dealership is 50 miles away, and if the car is not reliable, I will be in deep ****! I can't believe I am even considering this. I live 5 minutes away from Toyota, Honda, Nissan: very convenient, practical, economic, etc...... But, really boring! I must have some sort of aberrant gene. I know that there are just a few mini dealerships, so most of you have to deal with this problem. So, how are you doing????

I'm over 3 hours away from my dealer in St. Louis... I use the roadside assistance. They (RSA) arrange to have my MINI Lifted and returned to me no cost. I've used it three times in three years... When the car needed/asked for routine maintenance I made a trip of it. Turned out, It needed more then the service guys could get to during the appointment, so they gave me a loaner, and I returned at my leisure a week later.
Very pleased with the deal and the service dept. Pleased enough to consider up grading to the roadster!

That sounds like a good arrangement, may I ask who your dealer is. I am only 5 miles from mine, but just getting a a loaner is difficult. They always seem to be out. I like the deal u have.

My closest MINI Dealership is about 120 miles away, but I use one that is about 150 miles away for better service. I had to use roadside assistance for my 2012 JCW Roadster about two months ago and I couldn't have asked for better service. My car was picked up and returned via flatbed wrecker service. I have also taken my 2011 Countryman S All4 in for other issues and I was given a loaner to drive home and then they sent a driver over to me with my car and took the loaner back with him. Can't complain about that! However, I knew in advance that it may be an inconvenience when I bought my MINI's (on my 5th one) but that's how much I love the cars!

as if that makes any difference in buying a mini
Hello - let me preface this by saying I mean absolutely no disrespect to anyone for my following comments: I sometimes am dumbfounded when I read others with "issues" about a rough ride in a Mini. Same goes for this thread now about how far a dealership is away...My closest dealership is 275 miles away and it never has entered my mind that this is some kind of a burden to buying a Mini. To me in makes no difference if the nearest dealership is 5 miles away or 500....I am buying a car that satisfies my yearning for a great ride...I could care less how far it is away for a service. My minis have never broken down, but if they did, put it on a truck and be done with it....wait for the call and go pick it up...end of story. I owned an exotic for 13 years...timing belt broke prematurely...all the valves on the right bank dropped into the path of the cylinders...titanium valves no less...put it on a truck...ship it off to the other end of the state...grit your teeth and pay for it...pick it up and go fast again and again...if any of this seems to be a problem to a potential Mini buyer, I suggest looking at a Honda.

My dealership is about 90 miles away, but mostly downhill!
...and no, IMHO I would not let that enter into your ultimate decision whether to buy or not. Good service is good service regardless of how far you drive to obtain it...

10,000 miles and the only issue i had was my fault... GAS CAP not tightened enough, service light came on in middle of road trip, drove to nearest dealer (not where i purchased) they were phenomenal (no appointment) scanned the car told me what was wrong and sent me on my way. no charge no problem.
they made me feel safe and secure to continue on with 300 mile journey.
Honestly i kinda like them better than my dealer.
