R59 Made a June Build
Made a June Build
I've had a Roadster S order in for about a week and the dealer was trying to find a June build slot for it by trading with other dealers. The alternative was to wait until the August build which would have been agony! They just called to say they successfully traded another dealer for a build slot this month. I am so excited!

That is great news and it looks fabulous! Mine just went into production yesterday and I think if I had to wait until an August slot, I may have imploded. As it is, I am already stressing out if it will make the 6/23 boat so I don't have to wait for the next one that leaves 2 weeks later.

I went into this with no intention of getting white - considered black, red, blue and green. Then one day I clicked on the pepper white and I loved the black/white contrast with the top, stripes and trim. That was it...I was smitten.
The wait will be worth it though.
just put in an order
just ordered a JCW roadster in silver/white with Recaros...my dealer is looking for a build slot but is not too positive about a 2012 build...could be Nov...

good news for you
I believe I placed my order for my JCW roadster two weeks later after you did yours, so if logic serves, then mine should be pacing two weeks after yours. My dealer told me they had to trade two slots they had for S's to obtain the last available slot in 2012 for the JCW roadster with a dealer in Ohio. So it is possible my JCW roadster will be the last 2012 produced. I doubt that will make it any more valuable though.

its being built already
My last post said I thought I was two weeks behind you John, but I got a call from my dealer and he said it is partially built already and goes into the paint shop monday...says I could take delivery of it in July...Don't know why I did not get notification of a build date or build number but have it now including my VIN number! So it looks like I will be motoring my JCW roadster in the heart of summer instead of Sept/Oct. as I previously thought. What brought this up is that I tried to upgrade to the premium package and found out it was too late as it had "gone red" a few days ago..meaning no additions or changes can be made after it hits "red."
Update: On way to port!
(Order date: 6/1, Production Slot/Number: 6/8, Build date: 6/26)
So I guess the "build date" was the build completion date.
ps - sorry to keep posting this stuff but I have to do something to occupy my waiting time!

Congratulations! Now the transportation wait begins. Do you know which ship you are hoping to catch?
I wasn't quite sure how to figure that out. Was going to poke around tonight to better understand how people track the shipping.
There is a "Support Group" for those waiting for their cars to come home:

Roadsters are built in Oxford, England, UK. For international sales, they embark at Southampton Docks. BMW uses Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics to ship your car to North America.
Sooo . . .
Go to this website:
https://att.2wglobal.com/gstattweb/o...uickSearchPage
Copy/Paste your VIN into the CARGO ID field and select TRACK. This will take you to a Voyage Details page that tracks your logistics info. Click on the red font under the column Voyage Number. A new page will load that will tell you the name of the cargo ship your baby will cruise on. Note the name as well as the Call Sign, and the schedule table at the bottom.
Next, go to this website:
http://www.marinetraffic.com
Click on the “Vessels” tab and type in your Vessel’s Name, and select CARGO for the “Vessel’s Type.” When the list of cargo ships with that name comes up, select the one that has the correct Call Sign, and click on the “Show on Map” option on the right hand side. This will show you your ships present location on a map, as well as the heading, velocity, etc . . . This website is good for tracking your vessel when it is in local commercial waters, such as the English Channel, or coastal waters in the US.
Once it leaves port and steams toward the US, you can track it on the open ocean by this website:
http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/
If you are on the west coast of the US, and wish to watch your cargo ship transit the Panama Canal, they have webcams at the locks:
http://www.pancanal.com/eng/photo/camera-java.html
Watch marinetraffic.com for the transit, and then select the appropriate locks (Gatun or Miraflores) as your ship approaches.
When your cargo ship gets close to your destination port, start tracking it again on marinetraffic.com. Do a Google search for the website provided by the destination port and try to find a shipping schedule to cross check against the WWL schedule if you like. Once your Roadster is at the VDC your very best source of info is your dealership.
Our Roadster Pippa breezed through the VDC in a day, but waited 5 days for the trucking company to fill the transport to our dealership. It was exasperating, but well worth the wait.
Have fun!
