JCW spoiler install?

Anyone install the JCW spoiler their self?

The local dealer here wants $460 to install it which is mind blowing.

Any guides to the install?

My wife broke the center portion and I bought just that part local place charged me $100 to do that so $460 is to much.

If you are talking about the fixed spoiler that's ballpark. There is computer
work that also has to be done so the car doesn't think that the moveable
wing is still there. I think I paid around $300 but that was a couple of years
ago.

I believe he is talking about the very large fixed wing spoiler than replace the mechanical one as an accessory. His quote make sense.

Do you have to deactivate the JCW wing?

Does the computer HAVE to be deactivated for the JCW wing? I'd still love the auto feature of having it raise up at 50MPH.

As you can see on that link to the install they remove the old motorized system and tie back the wire. I believe the coding is so you dont get the wing malfunction on the dash all the time. And the light might flash near the toggle.

BTW Cool Job at MINI in NYC , good luck with the new position. Say hi to some of the MINI NJ/NYC HQ people if they swing by, just say Mike @ ECS said hi.

That sucks that you can't keep the motor for the spoiler in.

Thanks Mike! I've been here about a month now. I'm the MINI Product Genius. I'd love to have a phone conversation with you about some stuff. Do you have a direct line there at ECS? You can DM me the info if possible.

Yea, you would have to mod it to work with the original wing. That would be a big job.

Cool. Sounds like fun. You can PM me here on the forums. No direct call in at this time, then I would be on the phone all day. We have a sales team here that can help for call in.

PM what mods or questions you have. Good luck in NYC, that's a busy place.

Sad day for R58 JCW parts, Just got an update the R58 version 51622218750 is now NLA, but the R59 version is left, we have not seen anyone confirm fitment of the R59 on R58 and vice versa. My guess is the curve on the trunk is a little bit different, if you do this please post up.
