Arrow Connected for the R58

Folks I hope to receive my car in the next few weeks. I have read numerous threads talking of the connected cable being short. I found this item and wondering do you think it would work with the connected system. ???

Would love to know this too... :P (Like I said on FB)

Though - You also need an extension to the Aux side.

No, not necessary. This extension would be used on the device side of the Y cable, not the Aux+USB side.

It's just a straight pass-through extension cable, and should work well as long as it's good quality.

It looks to me like it would do the trick just fine. As for the aux side (I'm not familiar with the connected system) does the Mini connected system not come with a cable where the USB and AV-in jack cable are split and join together to a male end Apple 30 pin connector? If this is the case then the dockextender should work.

Edit to add: RKW beat me to it while I was typing. Ya, what he said!

I think I am going to have to get the extended wire. I don't like the short cable it does not allow easy use of the iPhone. And I would prefer to store my iPhone under the ebrake. Good find.

The cable jive works well. No problems, it has complete functionality with all of Mini Connected.

I ordered this Phone holder that fits perfectly in the cup holder. The connected cord is just long enough to reach (just barely). I have an iPhone 4s and I love having it in the driver side cup holder, making it very easy to use while driving (connecting to pandora or mini connected). This brand is great because the base adjusts to fit tight in the cupholder and is adjustable to fit any phone.

Very inexpensive too.

I can send pictures of it in the car if anyone is interested.

Let us know

If it does I will order a car mount/dock to hook up to the side of the center console for my iPhone.

I don't have an iPhone so I can't use all of the system's features. But I must say that I am really digging the whole voice commands thing. It is much easier than going through several menus to just tell it what you want.

I tried to see if it would stream audio over the BT but no dice. I have a Nexus One that uses BT with the home and car docks to send the signals which is very elegant. So I am thinking about buying one of those BT devices that you plug into the aux port to stream that way rather than just using a cable.

Tried the cord I ordered today..Some things worked others didn't. I knew it was going to be a problem as the short stock y cable has 3 grooves on the plug. This one only has two...Still searching...

hey guys. my very first post! i too am feeling the woes of the short cable provided by mini. my first assumption was that any old cable that fit the bill would work (like the one linked to amazon above).

upon further reading the company had released another one specific to bmw/mini but even those won't work w/ all the connected features.

i also just ordered the dockXtender from amazon and i'll let you know how it goes as soon as i get it connected. in theory, i don't see why this won't work.

What didn't work for you? So far I haven't found anything that hasn't worked with mine. I got the cable jive and seems to work everything ˆtried to use. I wonder if I missed something.

I havent received the cable jive yet. Ordered three days ago..I was doing research and found an three groove y cable at best buy went and tried it and it didn't work so I returned it to the store. I was really trying to find just one cable instead of the extender. I caved and decided this trial and error just was not worth the trouble. Dock extender is on the way. ....The best buy y cable would play music no cover art. The connected feature either i would have sound and no video for some or vice versa...

confirming that the cablejive works! got it setup and it's working. now the only problem now is figuring out how to get ipod control once i'm connected into the mini rather then control from the mini interface.
