R58 JCW Water / Spoiler / Footwell Issues

Went and looked at a JCW today. It has a rebuilt title and I'm okay with that. However I have a few things that are a bit of a worry. I told the private owned dealership I'll purchase the vehicle if Mini agrees to replace the footwell module. If they don't I'll back out.

1. Footwell Module causing a crap load of unrelated errors. BC button doesn't select. Window on right side doesn't want to operate fully. Spoiler doesn't want to go down. Stuck in the up position. I've check the back wiring for that. I don't see any tears. It's not at the Dealership for BMW / Mini and hopefully they address that.

2. Drains, Door Seals, Window Seals, Cowl cover. Where are the drains for the R58? Cowl cover I'm going to replace. What is the recommended bond for the door seals?

3. Louder than normal engine than in my R57 N18 S. Timing chain probably? It has had general service it's entire life as the Carfax and such report. Spark plugs and such. Timing chain will cost me about $750 with the Detroit Tuned Cryo treated Kit included from a shop nearby to do. I'll wash that up to just general Maintenance.

Besides all the issues, the car itself drives straight, shifts great up and down, and is JCW stock without modifications.

Footwell module https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...15837-0001.pdf They extended it and covers R58/R59 now as well as R60/R61

R58 did not have a sunroof, they get water coming in from the cowls and then into past the cabin filter and then on the floor. Sometimes in the door seal connection. Most of the time its from a window glass thats not seated. https://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/gummi/ To renew the seals.

I would just get the chain done, also have it inspected and put on a lift.

As far as engine noise, the n18 is not as loud as the N14 engines but those injectors are loud and they make the car sound louder then a normal car.

I feel the pain
Water is a constant in the R58
I’ve corrected the water ingress into the hatch area via the taillights
but
my vehicle spent 12 years outside in a wet Canadian climate there was a lot of water ingress both the driver and passenger footwell
Consequence of excess water I now need to replace JBE and CAS
It started with an intermittent key fob or CAS locking issue, suspected Footwell module but that part is fine.

I luv this little car but it’s certainly becoming a passion project
