Question 3RD Brake Light replacement.

Hi Mini family! I was wondering if anyone knows or who has replaced the 3rd Brake light on the R58 rear hatch door? How can it be removed? Do I have to remove the plastic panel from the inside of the rear hatch door? Or does it pop off with a plastic tool of some sort from the out side? Are there screws holding it in place? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How do I replace the rear 3rd brake light on R58?

You have to take that trim off the underside and then their are some screws, sorry just saw this. Love the color combo

Can you replace the individual LEDs? Or do you need to swap the entire housing? I have 3 or 4 that are out.

MINI only lists one part - the whole thing

you could try to dissect it . . .

Thanks, Capt. Hmmm...I think can live with it as is. Hell, I never see it.

Actually no screws at all. Its tape adhesive (Gasket tape) that surrounds the whole underside of the brake light. Just use a plastic thin trim tool and gently slide around the whole underside of the brake light while prying it loose. Gently pull the brake light out and it will separate from the trunk of the car. ULTRA SIMPLE.
