My 2015 R58 S with JCW tuning pkg, is coming out of warranty in late March. I have 26,000 miles and no complaints. I want to have the Mini dealer inspect the vehicle for possible warranty issues, before the warranty expires; or should I go to a reputable independent for that inspection. Appreciate any guidance especially what to "look for", or "...be sure and check the ..." advice.

I would have an independent look it over first.

Per MINI policy a MINI employee can't "upsell" warranty. Meaning they can't find anything wrong with the car that would be covered under warranty unless it is a safety item.

Now that doesn't mean a good tech or dealer wouldn't help you out if you asked for an inspection, but you never know. So that is why I say having a non invested 3rd party look it over is the best idea.

That would be one interesting thing to see in writing. Wouldn't just about everything potentially be a safety item? Loose headlight trim, what if it flew off while driving and scared the crap out of you and you crashed?

 

I don't agree with WayMotorWorks. I have always been serviced at a dealer since new and until now at 54K with no issue at all. You don't need extended warranty.

There is no reason your dealer would hide anything about the car history and what it may need to be done upon the Mini standards at the end of 4y/50k warranty. Furthermore, the most expensive items have extended coverage up to 10y/120m.
