Need to replace plugs and coils. Help!

Hello! The hubby needs new coils and plugs and it costs $677 at the dealer. Or we could just buy the parts and do it ourselves and save about $250. Does anyone know how to do this? The plugs are easy, but we don't know anything about the coils. He has a 2012 R58 S.

Thank you!

You'll soon get responses from two or three vendors listed in the Vendor Directory at the top of the page. They will have everything you need including instructions. The dealerships are in the habit of charging as much or more than $150 an hour wherein independents are much more reasonable. Another difference between dealerships and indies is that the former just throws parts at a problem where the indie will spend the time to diagnose and repair at a lower rate. Also, for common replacement issues like brakes and batteries any shop can do the job.

wow, plugs AND coils? what symptoms does it have?

on another note, if you plan on doing your own service - buy the Bentley manual. It's saved me loads of money. I'll go get mine and look up the procedure for you.

OK, looked it up. It's super easy.
Remove the ignition coil cover.
Unlock the ignition coil connector
Pull connector off the coil
Slide the coil straight out of the spark plug hole

That's all it takes to get the coils out.

Before you start buying parts because the dealer says you need them, what problems are you having, symptoms?
