Considering R58 Purchase

Hey All!

Totalled my R53 recently. Poor Trillian. :(

I'm on the prowl now for an R58. Is there anything I should be looking out for? Any pitfalls, or gotchas? Anything I should listen for?

Thanks!

They're neat little cars. I'm not sure if performance is a key goal for you, but if you can tolerate the brick-like aerodynamics of a hard top MCS, you'll have a lot more utility. The storage, head, passenger room in the Coups are way more limited than the HT. Of course if you have a coupe, you're driving a much rarer car...

I agree and if you order a new JCW Coupe, it is even worth the added money for performance enjoyment. You will not be disappointed. If you can find a low mileage 6 sp, go for it over the automatic. It is a far better driving experience.

The Coupe has better dynamics about handling, cabin comfort, seating and driving position. The cargo capacity is impressive if you don't need a small SUV.

It is a completely different car in style and driving attitude from the boxy Mini models we are accustomed to see in the showrooms.

All the other Mini are ugly and also underpowered for the added weight with the latest remodels. Just my opinion.

Hey now...I loved my "boxy" little Mini, and she literally saved my life. I wouldn't be here. Your opinion is noted, and everybody has one, and I appreciate your input.

See if you can find a JCW Coupe' I bet you would like it. Good luck. Try to get one with The JCW Aero 3/2012+ Body kit if you get a Cooper or Cooper S , looks much better.

Its a fun car and I think even more fun then my R56 Cooper S.

Add in the JCW fixed rear wing and it looks even better. The first year JCWs still had the N14 motor, 2013 and beyond was N18 all around.

+1 Fixed wings are rare, I have only seen them here and one in person.

Good luck.

There are many low mileage 2013 and older GP for sale on the web. They are not rare. I am sure you would miss your Coupe.

I only want the 06 GP1. IMO it's the best MINI they've ever made. But you are correct, if miss my Coupe.

I have owned performance cars............. the best........ Nissan Z, Supra and Corvette.

I love the JCW Coupe. It is among my favorite. If I would sell I would go back to Infiniti. The other Mini are ugly.

You can't go wrong with a JCW R58 coupe. 6 speed manual or go home. I live driving it so much and I am so impressed by the car and I have owned twin turbo mustangs, stroker mustangs, C5 and C6 Z06 corvettes and corvette LS stroker engine pro touring 1969 Camaros (still own the 69 Camaro) So buy it and don't look back. We paid $18k from carmax for our 2012 JCW R58 coupe with 40k miles on it. Only thing it doesn't have is leather seats because we are having custom seats done by my interior guy and we didn't get the factory navigation because it is a joke and we are going aftermarket double din in dash.

Sorry To hear about your R53! The R58 is a great car, I have a 2013 R58S myself.
Extremely fun car when modified as well! Traded my 2009 R56S in on it and have no regrets.
