JCW Coupe exhaust..........

It sounds nice at idle when the engine is warming up but a bit "canned" when driving.

Anybody knows about an upgrade that would provide a consistent low growl without the annoying detonation and backfire of the OEM in lower gears?

The JCW accessory catalog seems to have an option with different exhaust tips.

Any comments?

Check out the Akrapovic Exhaust it is the perfect sound. I didn't like the stock JCW exh on my GP as I had some drone from it and the Akrapovic solved that. I do get the pop and burble in sport mod.

Well......... pop and burble is what I want to get rid off.

It is what I call "canned" and it is getting worse at 2200 miles.

It sounds like an engine that is out of tune mostly all the time when it is hot.

I am thinking of replacing the rear pipes with an S unit.

Pops are there by design. It is all part of being a Mini.

Then you sure don't want to delete the resonator.

For sure I would not. I am not that crazy LOL.

I just would like a "mellow" growl as the Ansa exhaust on Italian cars.

yea, those pops were added after owners complained about missing the burple pop... i upgraded my Cooper S Coupe w/the ALTA JCW 3" downpipe and she is very growly but of course will always have the pops when in sport mode.. today i set off a few alarms in the parking garage popping.. here's a video clip of my exhaust

So, there must be a way to delete these pops without exhaust modifications.

Can the ECU be reprogrammed?

Just get an Akrapovic exhaust and do not go into sport mode. If you want more performance then get a Manic tune. You will have exactly what you want.

Thanks......

Pretty expensive for an exhaust pipe LOL. I will keep the OEM JCW.

I have the full Akra Evolution exhaust (Downpipe back) and it is a much more refined, deep tone. The P&B is more muted and subtle but still there. Only when the car is really warmed up and I run up and off the accel does it noticeably P&B loudly. Conversely my wife's CMS has the 2nd cat and resonator delete and when it's in sport mode, I can scare the neighbors with how loud it P&B. but without sport mode on it won't P&B at all.

Congratulations, you have a very nice car from the pictures I saw on another post and it seems we both live in Vegas.

Well, you are really "performance" oriented. I am happy with my bare bone stock and I don't want to "scare" my senior gated community LOL.

My JCW Coupe doesn't pop/burble much at all in the Sport mode. I sorta wish it would do more. My 2007 MCS did zero.

Think the 2012 JCW N14 engine pop less then the 2013 N18 JCW engine. Even in sport mode. When they went from N14=> N18 engine both the P&B was brought back due to demand.
