R58 R-58 Bra
I know about the "clear" bra's but I was wondering if anyone makes a regular(non-clear) bra for the new mini coupes and roadsters?
I've been looking and can't find any for these particular models.

At Auto Zone, right next to the curb feelers and fuzzy dice
. Seriously my wife wanted one for her car in 2005, I started putting it on and coudn't finish the job. It ended up in the trash.

Yeah, they are still made, generation X'ers or whatever!. I have used the Colgan Custom Bra on a couple of MINI's and a few more BMW's. They are, as the name suggests, custom built per order, so there can be a few weeks to a month's wait. Think it is best to order factory direct from their website instead of through distributors for that reason. Cost is about $200, just ordered one for my '14 clubman. Pretty sure there is a coupe version available. You may have to order a 2012 model since for some reason there are no '13s or '14s years listed. They are a snug fit, best to let them warm up in the sun on a nice day before fittimg. Never had a problem with one not fitting properly, and they are very well built and designed. Clear film coverings are ok, but in my part of the country with gravel trucks, chip & seal roads, and ferocious bugs, think I prefer the Colgan's. Hope this helps!
I used a clear bra product call Xpel Ultimate which is self healing from light scratches. For the front end of the R58 about $ 800

Bra....
So the ClearBra and/or 3M paint protection is worth the investment. I've had it done on all my new vehicles since 2009 EXCEPT my Mini's.
While the paint protection is truly the best option it's expensive nor "bullet proof". Also if you're car sits outside it will age faster.
The simple reason I use the old-school Colgan bra on my Mini is I use it for commuting. Even paint protection film gets small "chips" and if you're not very careful when washing it can get scuff marks.
Think of the Colgan bra (or other make) like a jacket for your car. You put it on when you want to protect yourself from the elements then take it off when you're done!
That said, I purchased an R56 bra for my Coupe and its (almost) a perfect fit. Yes, it looks a bit dated but the beauty is I can use it on an as needed basis.

Clear Bra
I have heard Colgan is a fine product but never to run them wet. More care is needed.
I put on that 3M Clear Bra, had a shop do it and I do not regret it one bit. Car looks great and you can't tell it is there.
Maybe a mistake on my part, but they put the Clear Bra over the Stripes. So if it is removed part of the Stripes might come off or it will need to be re-striped? Any thoughts here?
I park in my garage and then at a garage (deck) at work. So the car is outside very little or when actually driven. That said I am told the Clear Bra will last a very long time.
Thinking five or six years? Anyone with long term experience with Clear Bra? I believe the install was around $800. Seems about standard price.
Not sure what to do in 5 or 6 years but worry about that later. In the meantime no chips and she looks like new.
