Window rattle

Hi All on the coupe those little windows behind the passenger and driver. There is a bunch of plastic that outlines the windows -- I am getting a lot of rattles. Has anyone had issues with that?

Lightning metallic blue, black top. Stripes blue on the black. Black on the blue. They just started fading until they turned almost white. I just took them off.

I think you need to visit this page to more details. I know its not the working on the same car which you have but you can get a great help from this. he explained how to fix this problem with pictures.

I've had a similar issue with them rattling in my Coupé. I ended up getting mad at those trim panels one day, so I tore them out. It took quite a lot of effort and a bit of patience, but they did finally come out.

If you notice, there are two parts to each of those B/C pillar trim panels: an inside part (closest to the interior of the car), and an outside part (closest to the glass itself). Those two parts have to come apart from one another, while the inside half is being pulled away from the car itself. There are only four white push-in retainers holding the inside half to the car, but the inside and outside halves don't get go of each other very easily, simply because the outside half is really flimsy and bends very easily. But, if you keep at it, you'll make them split up.

After I took those assemblies off, I put the inside half back in the car to cover up the sheet metal, and I left the outside half on my kitchen table. However, I have those little windows limo tinted, so a person can't see the missing trim panel from the outside; if your windows aren't tinted, it might look like garbage.

Hopefully the above made sense!

Hi am I missing something here. Take your Coupe back to the dealer they will fix. I have had no problems with Mini of Tempe. They want your Mini experience to be great.

I have more sensitive hearing than the average bear, and I live three hours away from the nearest dealer. In cases where it's a rattle or buzzing noise, I'm usually the only one who can hear it; and it's easier for me to just fix the problem myself, rather than take a day off work, drive to the dealer, and be told there's nothing wrong because no one else can hear it.

However, if you can reproduce the sound at will, take it to the dealer and go for a drive with the tech. Let them deal with it!

This has been happening for sometime on the drivers side....soo annoying...but nowhere near as bad as my R50.

I noticed the trim on that part is loose(more free play) when compared to the right side.

Maybe it got loose when I was rear-ended a few months back? hmmmm
