This question may have already been answered, but I searched and couldn't frind anything. I just got my 2012 JCW Coupe (Black/Red) and I don't have the rear foglight switch, but it appears to have the lights themselves installed. Anyone see this before ? What would I have to do to get them to function because right now they have bulbs and the wiring running to them but dont turn on.

When you ordered (if you ordered) your car, did your order specify the rear fog light option? It's an extra $100.
If you dont have the toggle switch, then I'm guessing you didnt order it, so now you'd have to get it installed separately at dealer or aftermarket

Are you sure your fog light switch isn't dual action? Try pushing it the oposite direction to see if that actuates rear fogs. (I remember reading on the coupes that it's a dual action switch - up=fronts down = rears)

I actually blacked out my tail light lenses. I thought some of the tint didn't like the heat of the bulbs. Looking closer the reverse lights actually melted the small lenses under the rear bumper on my Hardtop. Need the dealer to check it out. Very strange. I have to melted areas of distorted plastic where the bulbs are located on each lense. Any one else see this?

Thanks for the suggestions... I tried the foglight toggle and they didn't turn on. I do have a blank on the switch panel where i assume that the switch for the rear is supposed to be. I had assumed when i bought that car that i had requested the rear foglight, but apparently I didn't. I spent 42K so at that point what was an extra hundred. After doing some research I guess i can't just buy the toggles. I saw they do sell a retrofit kit. Anyone have any experiences with that?

WayMotorWorks was doing retrofits at AMVIV; you'll need to install the missing toggle and then reprogram the car to recognize the input from the new switch. For extra $$, you can replace the switch bezel with one that has the marking for your new switch.

Yes you have to install the toggle, and then program the car for it to work. You do already have the light, wiring, and bulb.

We sell the toggle:

and the panel with the Fog Light icon:

You don't need the toggle panel for it to work, it's just for looks at that point.

Just checked with the dealer about my 2013 JCW Hardtop. I did not order the rear fog and although it looks like one on the rear drivers side it cost a lot more than the original $100 to install... I was hoping the distribution center could just put a switch in and flash the ECU.

i have an r58, it came w/o the rear fogs. you buy the toggle switch, its about 8 dollars, install took about 5 minutes, and you have to find a programmer on here, and they can activiate it. i paid 60 bucks to activate several features like one touch window up, video whilst driving, rear fogs, and euro hazzards.

So you already had the rear fog light in the bumper? Also heard it is a pain to take the switch console cover off 5 minutes sounds a lot easier. Any chance of telling us how you did it?

I just turned mine on yesterday at the dealer. They had to request the download from MINI. Basically my VO (vehicle order) with the added rear fog light option added. I bought the toggle and the bezel for $ 110 from Way Motor, all the bulb and wiring was already there. The download took less than and hour and I had the rear fog light, they charged $ 70. Baron MINI in Kansas.

That is interesting and the lowest price I have heard. Wish I could get East Bay Mini here in Pleasanton to do that!
