Call me Crazy but...

Went to dealer to look at the JCW Roadster in town yesterday.

Today I put down my $1000.00 bucks on a new order for a Silver w/black stripes JCW Roadster with Recaro seats, Nav, all packages, JCW leather dash, JCW leather wheel, JCW floor mats. $47K.

I love this car! However I hate the dealers used car manager.

Know anyone who wants a mint 2012 white & black fully loaded All4 Countryman with only 2500 miles. I am hoping to get back $35K of the $38K I originally paid.

Nuts! huh. But what can one do when one falls in love.

Very cool! I'm about $10k less crazy, but crazy nonetheless.

Didn't get the JCW, which is where a lot of the $ difference in our cars lies.

Had a JCW hatch and loved it, but turns out I'm just not a manual transmission guy. Wish I was, but just not me.
So an 'S' will have to do. May add some of the JCW upgrades either at delivery (suspension perhaps) or down the road (tune).

And now we wait...

At least this is the kind of crazy that won't get you put away! Well, unless you have to rob a bank to pay for it!

Enjoy the Roadster. I can't say I blame you for wanting one that bad!

I appreciate all the moral support.
It's going to be a long wait because the Recaro Seats don't go into production until March.
Most likely looking at an early May delivery.

I love Mini and all but for $47K I would be looking for a very low ,mileage Boxster S. At some price point I don't want to see FWD anywhere on the spec sheet.

crazy? more like envy-inspiring! Have seen one pic of a leather dash, and it looked incredible. Cant wait to see yours. Now, off to miniusa.com to build myself a roadster for the fourth time this weekend.

Totally agree! I've owned 2 of them and am contemplating the new Roadster, but my build comes out to about 45k, so I would have to consider another Boxster! Of course, it won't be as cute as the MINI!

Yea, pretty nuts in my book. I think the only way you will get 35K is if you retail it yourself. I traded my 09 MCS to the dealer. I got what I wanted for the car but I noticed the other day that the car is still sitting at the dealership for sale. Been there a couple months now.

I tried to sell it for a lot less than the dealer is asking and couldn't do it. It was a very nicely equipped CR 6 speed with all the packages. Pretty low mileage as well. 26K

I wish you good luck on your quest. $47K for a Mini is beyond my breaking point. I too would look at a rear wheel drive car for that kind of cash.
I can't wait to see it. Be sure to post up once you get it. I think a lot of folks will be looking for these pictures.

I can't really use a rear wheel drive vehicle where I live.

I am at 8000 feet. Lots of snow. Front wheel drive with snow tires is the only way to even get to my house in the winter.

I noticed that my Countryman All4 does just fine and rarely uses the rear wheels. However rear wheel drive with snow tires just can't make it.

So for me if I want a sporty car. I either can only use it in the Summer or get FWD with snow tires. We have 340 days of sunshine each year so I hate to waste a beautiful winters day just because there is snowpack on the road to my home.

Congratulations on the order!

I'm about to pull the trigger to order a R59 S, sight unseen since my local dealers have not had a R59 in town yet. What has your dealer told you about production schedule and when you might expect delivery? My dealer says they have a slot available for the S and that it's mine, but they've not told me a lot about the production schedule.

This is not our first rodeo (3rd MINI we will have ordered) and the waiting is always the hardest part!

I am waiting on a JCW slot from my dealer but I get first shot as soon as one is available.

Since I am ordering Recaro seats, production probably can't start until March. Which means, (since I live out West) that I probably won't take delivery until May.

A long, long, wait!

Wow, you will have a long wait! At least it gives you a lot of time to sell your Countryman.

My motoring advisor said the same thing about the JCW slot (none available right now), so at least we're getting similar reports from our respective dealers.

Well, you made me feel better about trading in my 11 month old S. My JCW Coupe was 42k out the door so... I am just right behind you! Enjoy! You will LOVE it!

My imaginary build came to $38k. A bit pricey considering it's not even a JCW!! Nah, if I was going to buy a two seat roadster, I'd either go for a late model Boxster or a new Miata with a Flying Miata supercharger kit.

Of course, I understand if you need FWD, there are not too many other options out there....

I don't think you are crazy a bit.
I traded a fine Jeep Wrangler in to afford mine.

Nice decision. That's a whole lotta Mini there dude, but it should be excellent. I swore off getting a Coupe this year. That is until I stopped by the dealership in Scottsdale and saw a white/red JCW sitting there for $37k. The place wasn't even open yet. My wife goes "we could trade in my Honda Element and get that car today". I had to leave before they opened and I drove it. Now I've got JCW disease again! (can you get the Recaro's with the Coupe?)
