Exclamation Window interlock bug or manufacturing defect?

Good day fellow Coupe-Fiends.

Experienced a problem with both door windows this morning which occurred once before a coupe of weeks ago. Both driver and passenger windows remained in the door-open gap mode during commute to work and failed to respond to either window switch in any way.

Both times this has happened coincided with putting something in the boot although there have been plenty of other times when the windows did not fail, so I'm not positive it's related.

Once I got to work and stopped the engine, got out, reopened and closed the boot, and then closed the drivers door, the window returned to its normal, fully up position. I have not verified if the window switched are now working or not.

The first time around, the windows did reclose after shutting off the ignition and exiting the car, however, the switched still failed to do anything until I also opened and closed the boot.

Very odd behaviour and I put it down to some erroneous issue the first time, but today it returned.

Dealership has not heard of any similar issues on any models, but thought I'd just "ask the audience".

Chris

A guess: you put something in boot, close it. The car doesn't register it's closed. Open door, window dips. Close door window doesn't rise because it thinks boot is still open (even thought idiot light doesn't come on). Try this: open boot, leave open then do the door thing and see if the window stays popped. I have no clue why the window switches didn't work though. Makes me think the thing needs to "reboot". I think they can do a reset at the dealer.

That is a possibility. I will see if I can reliably replicate the problem on demand. It is certainly annoying and not something I'm looking forward to occurring during the midst of Winter up here in Minnesota.
