those metal loops in the boot

What are the metal loops near the indentation at the rear of the boot for? I have a boot box organizer in my current MINI that seems like it might fit in that spot but can't figure out what the loops are for. Is it just to tie things down? Or are they for one of those bumper guard things that you fold out when you are parking in the city so you don't get all dinged up? Some other sort of accessory that is not on the market yet?

For cargo net (in the hardtop at least). My car came with a cargo net thingy which is mildly useful.

Maybe he is talking about the tow hooks?

Pretty sure it is the cargo net holder. The dealership left it in the ziplog bag that the cargo net comes in and left it in my trunk.. I haven't hooked them up yet :P

thanks. I didn't realize we got a "free" cargo net.

I don't think the cargo net is normally free.

The loops are for tying down items. Look in your Owner's Manual under "Securing Cargo".

I got the cargo net, too. MA even had it hooked into place. Frankly, the metal loops & those 2 plastic protrusions in the far rear that I assume are meant to support some sort of secondary floating floor option just get in the way for me. Seems my luggage, my road trip tool kit, and the disposable cooler I bought for my recent road trip are all just about exactly as wide as that lower floor section, but due to the hooks & such, none would fit flat in that area. Grumblegrumblegrumble.

We got the cargo net as well. Our MA also hooked it for us when we picked up the car. MA also threw in the JCW checkered flag floor mats, Union Jack valve stem covers, digital tire gauge, 2 cool keychains and my Lil Bulldog with a red shirt!
